I visited Oshawa for work, so I didn't have much opportunity to enjoy the amenities. However, there were a couple issues I had at check-in (my reservation got put under my partner's name by mistake), which Giulia was incredibly efficient in taking care of. She was unbelievably helpful and friendly all the while. Rooms are clean and reasonably updated and comfortable, breakfast is standard Holiday Inn Express breakfast, which is predictable but sufficient. Parking in the underground, secured garage is also convenient (and included in at least the corporate rate I got to use). But customer service on this stay was above and beyond.

I gave it five stars, which is not the star rating of the hotel but how well they live up to their real star rating. Seems very new. Rooms are spacious, decorated modern with quality furnishings. Surprised to have eggs for a free breakfast. Friendly staff...hard to beat for a quick stay over while on the road.

This is a good hotel! It's not glamorous or luxurious but you will sleep comfortably and securely. Parking is $8 a day, but that allows you to park in their secured underground lot (if your vehicle is short enough). So whether you seek protection of belongings or just don't want to brush snow off your car...you're covered. Literally.

We were pleasantly surprised as we checked in to our room, we had been upgraded to a larger room, which we did not request... just a random friendly gesture from HIE staff. Our room was massive and so comfortable. Most of all, the room was clean and the bed was perfect! I slept like a baby. Woke up in the morning and I made a cup of coffee with the Kuereg coffee maker supplied in our room. We went down for a delicious breakfast, fresh scrambled eggs with sausage and a hot bowl of porridge. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Our experience was amazing. We recommend HIE in Oshawa.
