The Holiday Inn Barrie Hotel and Convention Centre is easily reached from Highway 400. Located adjacent to the highway in south Barrie, it is surprisingly quiet. The breakfast buffet provided value with a wide selection including fresh fruit, juices, hot and cold cereals with many condiments. Breakfast standbys included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes, French toast, yogurt, and different bread-type options. There are both an indoor pool and outdoor pool, a hot tub and a dry sauna with small change rooms. The room and facilities were clean. The staff were accommodating with issues over accessing the pool and extending check-out time. If you could look down on the hotel, you would see a sprawling C shape with a five story Executive Tower attached at the base. Most of the amenities are located off the lobby of the Executive Tower. The Executive Tower rooms are the only ones serviced by an elevator. The Executive tower rooms are large Queen or King bedrooms at approximately a $20+premium over other similar rooms. The other rooms in the C shape are in a two-story motel style extension with interior hallways that extend from behind the tower and around. If your room is located outside of the tower, you can avoid hauling luggage upstairs if you ask for a room with a 200 number. The lower the number, the closer it is to the amenities. If your room is located at the top of the C, where our room was, the quickest way to the lobby is to use the sidewalk.

When I came last year I was not aware I was staying in the "new section" of this hotel. I simply took the elevator to the 2nd floor and walked a short distance to my room, which as a Senior it was easy for me to get back downstairs to the restaurant later in the evening and again the next day checking out. Well THIS time it was not at all easy for me. I had a room on the 3rd floor in the original back section of the hotel UNFORTUNATELY! So Seniors and handicapped beware.....!! NO ELEVATOR ACCESS to your room or back downstairs to the restaurant or 2 pools. Two sets of stairs lugging your baggage up and down unless you tip a fellow at the front desk to bring your luggage upstairs... and depending how far back your room is, count on 2 LONG corridors to walk down as well.. Thankfully I only stayed 1 night but for others staying longer, please book stating you want a room in the NEW SECTION with an elevator to avoid the difficulties this gave me. However, the actual Front Desk and restaurant service was excellent and very pleasant as last time!

Stained carpets , stained and dirty room chairs. French fries on stair carpet for 1.5 days now. Wallpaper peeling. Beds clean-no bugs. Can't see bottom of outdoor pool. Close to fast food and Hortons. Didn't use restaurant. Some rooms have fridges and microwaves..others don't. Lots of stairs-no elevators. Average for a quick night's stay.

The room was good. Clean. Pretty sound proof. It's nice not to hear everyone in the hallway. Price was reasonable. No complaints. I would stay there again.

We had a good stay at this Holiday Inn, The staff were great, I didn't have any problems there. The grounds and rooms were clean , however I feel that the rooms could use a little updating, especially the toilet , it was too small and looked like it was 20yrs old . A simple toilet upgrade to a elongated model would have made a huge difference. We were there for a Life celebration gathering, and the service and set up was Ten out of ten. Thank you.
