We went to bed late the night we checked in. As our kids had already gone to bed, the lights were off.
Upon awakening the next morning, my husband found blood on the sheets. We both checked to make sure it hadn't come from us. Neither of us had any scratches, cuts, open wounds, pimples (that manager suggested such) that could be the source of the blood. More to the point, it was dry.
We spoke with the manager who had the hotel staff started an investigation. At that point, I was fairly satisfied.
Fast forward to the next day, I speak with the manager again and I'm told the fault wasn't on their end. I asked, "So are you saying it's *my* fault?" He was very careful not to say that, but kept reiterating that the hotel staff wasn't to blame. I very bluntly told him that if he insisted his staff wasn't responsible, then he was pretty much saying I was.
It was, to be honest, flat-out insulting.
They offered 25% of the total bill but after the discomfort we faced upon learning we'd slept on a bed with blood from a previous customer, then having the issue compounded by the manager who left me with no choice but to assume that he believed we were either lying or too stupid to know if we had any open wounds on us, 25% was far from adequate. I did not expect the entire trip to be comped, but I wanted far more than 25% and his insulting suggestions.
I've reached out to Marriott's corporate customer service via the website and hope to hear something a bit more customer-friendly.
Just be wary if you choose to stay here. Check your bed BEFORE going to sleep and make sure you take photos.
