For the price, we did not think we were going to be at a really wonderful place, but wow, this place is a mess and doesn't deliver on anything resembling an acceptable experience. It definitely does not resemble the images online. It is difficult to overstate how duped we feel.
The door knob to the room is loose and barely feels secure .
There is a pool - but the lifeguard equipment and pool cleaning gear is bizarrely cobbled together out of plywood, water bottles, brooms, and duct tape. Since it's not a Mad Max themed motel, I'm guessing the actual tools and materials were too pricey. It feels like the owners don't care about the safety and cleanliness of the pool.
The room has air conditioning but it is a noisome window unit cut into the wall at calling height. The seal is pretty poor and probably not great in inclement weather. The walls are thin so noise is pretty common. There is also quite a bit of dirt on the walls. There is even a multicolored array of markings above my bed's headboard that, I can only hope, are the crayon scrawlings of a child and not the Lovecraftian marks of a cadre of cultists.
Furthermore, the headboard of my bed has a sticker from some random airline company affixed upon it. It's a large sticker and does not escape view at all - does the staff not see this very large sticker? What else do they not see when cleaning the room?
There is a tv and it appears to work. Strangely, there is also a microwave but I refuse to try to use it. There is an aged leather couch in the room with the added bonus of having someone else's playing cards nestled in between the cushions - it's not a full set of playing cards though.
The hot water does not work. Note: I do not know if the hot water is hot or not - it literally will not turn on when the handle is turned. This doesn't appear to be a "Canada thing", I think it's broken.
There are radiators in the room and they conceal (poorly) a host of insects, webs, and dirt that i have yet to point out to my wife. I may not at all.
The towels smelled of bleach, which is good, but felt crusty, which is nasty.
They're is an exposed light switch (the cover is missing), and there are haphazard cords strewn about, and there are fewer outlets than 3... I'm still looking. This feels unsafe.
Staff is friendly but pretty unprofessional.
The curtain rod is installed too high... or the drapes are too short. Privacy is an issue. Also the drapes must've doubled as a painter's drop cloth in another life because the marks on the other side of them are otherwise baffling.
It looks like a hay field out behind our room, which is odd because we are not in a country setting. Perhaps the mower is broken... and has been for the better part of the summer.
In summary, this was a very uncomfortable experience and nowhere near worth the price of the room. Sleep in your car, use the toilet at the Wendy's, and save your money.
ALSO: the wifi doesn't work.
