We had a great experience at Bear Hug B&B. The building is beautiful (a Victorian home, but with modern amenities), and is only a five minute walk from the beach, downtown restaurants, and the Lighthouse Theatre. Diane and Craig were great hosts, and they shared lots of insights about the area (such as wineries we may have overlooked, and a more scenic driving route to Long Point that bypassed the highway). The breakfasts were great (the highlight was a crab cake eggs benedict). When making the reservation many months earlier, I had mentioned that this trip was to celebrate our anniversary, and Diane and Steve left us a small bottle of champagne, which was really appreciated. This will be our first choice when we return to Port Dover.

Very highly recommended. Beautifully renovated centuries old home close to downtown Port Dover and all amenities. Rooms are very spacious, comfortable and inviting. And the hosts...one would be hard pressed to find a more amiable, charming couple with such a varied and interesting past and present life. You couldn't ask for a better, hospitable stay.

Very very amazing stay they took me and my wife in last minute for our honeymoon like literally the day of. The host Diane and Craig were so inviting and very lgbt friendly, my wife and I felt very invited and safe. The whole home has been restored to a rustic beauty featuring gorgeous spacious rooms and bath rooms. My wife and i happened to get the Emily room which had a private bathroom with shower. Now that was just the bed part of this BnB. Breakfast was an exquisite homemade quiche and muffins with yogurt and fresh fruit, along with coffee or tea and juice! All served to you in the dining room at the very decent time of 9am. Needless to say our visit to the bear hug bed and breakfast was an amazing experience, we plan on coming back again in futures to come! Thank you BearHug BnB. Sincerely, Ann Miller.

Cassandra Muileboom is not recommending Bear Hug because we are not set up to take small children and she has a little one. When Cassandra called us, we asked how many people would be coming and she said 'two'. When they arrived there were 'three' people. It is clearly stated on the BearHug website that we are not 'child proof' and it is for the safety of our guests that we have this policy in place. We are very sorry Cassandra that you felt you had a post a negative review, you seemed very understanding when we talked. Diane and Craig Hemming.
