Beautiful countryside and great rooms. The staff were very nice and very helpful. Overall I have no complaints.

5 star for the architecture and interior design - very cool and challenges the traditional expectations of hotel design and experience - bravo ! Our room was small but fit 2 adults and 3 teenagers so it works. 5 star from our teenagers on having a hang out spot in the ping pong room with 80's tape cassettes and boom box for tunes 3 star for service on checkout - met with a bit of a challenge with our request for a final printed bill -(they noted that it normally takes days to settle the bill...) 2 star for room quietness - our room walls were paper thin and we could easily hear conversations from the room beside us

Horrible experience at the Beatnik hotel, here’s why: My girlfriend and I booked a room thinking we would have a nice get-away near the Balnea spa. By looking at their website, the Beatnik seemed great, nice modern place with cozy rooms and good common areas... don’t be fooled, the photos don’t give justice at all to reality. The place is an old summer camp refurbished partially to give it a new look with black painted walls. The rooms are minuscule, leaving absolutely no room to leave your luggage (even less if you envision doing snow sports). We were given a family room, under the promise that the other bed was in another room, not at all close to the master bed... we were fooled. Showers are tiny, don’t even think of being two within them, you’ll have a hard time alone. Walls are not well insulated, you will hear everything in the corridors, including the doors opening/closing when someone enters or exists the facility. Upon realizing that the room wasn’t at all to our convenience (which we did by simply looking at it), we politely asked the staff if we could cancel our reservation. The hotel wasn’t at all fully booked, so we weren’t losing them any potential customers by cancelling. Yet, they argued that it was policy to not accept cancellations and would not refund us at all (which is their right, but definitely it how you treat people right) We eventually preferred going to stay the night somewhere else, even if they wouldn’t refund us. That’s how bad our experience was. The Beatnik would be a great hostel, unfortunately with it’s 150$ per room, you can’t expect to be pleased at all. Stay somewhere else, it’s that simple.

Beatnik is one of the spots that you have to visit more than once. It is a nice, calm and cozy hotel. Location: Is a bit out of the way but it is what makes it special, it is surrounded by nature. Rooms: cozy, clean, and beds are comfy. I got to know later that they are locally made. Breakfast: worth it, clean, healthy, and most importantly the coffee is good. Surrounding: there is a beautiful park right next to the hotel perfect for a summer or winter walk. Service: really good, friendly, and hospitable. They always treat me well, and give good advice. They do go that extra mile, and there is that personal touch to everything. The place in general: I learned that the owner drew all the paintings on the walls. And truly they are exceptional, there is something hidden in each one, if you look for a bit you will see it. My favourite is the Lebanese princess picture, it shows that even if this place was in the middle of the woods in Quebec I got to feel a bit like the home I was raised in. Great touch. Definitely a spot to visit, and enjoy. Side note: record players in the rooms actually work, I loved that.
