The place looked nice on paper, I wasn't expecting that much for the price tag. But, I sincerely believe that there should be a minimum of hygiene to be respected. Towels were stained, there were holes in the towels and bed sheets, previous clients had left their used soap and shampoo. I've only spent a couple hours, not even a full 24h inside the room that I had rent for 7 days before I had to check-in another hotel. When I tried to get refunded for the nights that I didn't spend, they tried their best to make me come back. And when I tried harder, suspicious questions were asked, like: "why didn't you check better when the receptionist showed you the room when you first checked-in?" As if it was my fault if the place was disgusting and that I had to pay more attention to the details. It was supposed to be sound-proof but I don't think that hearing people walking or coughing met that expectation. It was one, if not the worst experience in a hotel.

One of the best hotels Ive staid at. The customer service was impeccable, room was very clean, and location was perfectly centered downtown. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anybody that is visiting montreal.

Previous reviews were very misleading. Staff was friendly when checking in, but not much English and no French. For the price, my expectations were not high. The general lack of maintenance, scotch-taped paper signs and weak WiFi didn’t bother me (I was grateful there was WiFi at all). However there is a basic level of hygiene that I think is fair to expect of even the most basic rooms. Ignoring the fact that the smoke-detector was removed - the absolutely unbearable smell of cigarette smoke in a “non-smoking” room was difficult to stomach. I was willing to overlook that since not everyone has as sensitive a nose as I do. The bed sheets however, were really unacceptable - with random hair and small stains in various places (photo shows sheets as they were when we entered room). The only pillows available had decorative covers on them which clearly were not cleaned often, if at all. We attempted to remedy the situation with the guy at the front desk, but he did little more than stare at us blankly and “helplessly.” So we just told him we wouldn’t be staying and booked a room elsewhere. Despite not having stayed there we received a charge for the room the following day.

My boyfriend and I had to last minute book around 1 in the morning new years night and they were super accomidating. The room was nice and clean and had a nice balcony we could have used if it were summer. The only possible thing i could say is that it was a bit too chilly throughout the night but other than that it was great!
