Great hostel with off street free car park. Central location close to a convenient shop and down town. Very friendly staff

The place was a great budget-friendly stop. I booked a room for 2 adults, and it came to 140 bucks for 2 nights. Our room was initially very cold, but once the heater kicked in, it got pretty warm. The washrooms were shared, but there was no one on our floor at this time of the year, so no problems there. The shower head was a quite on the slow side, and the washrooms tend to get very cold (no heater), but it all made sense for the price. The free breakfast included bread, waffles, pancakes (all store bought), peanut butter, butter, jams, cereal, milk, orange juice, pretty decent coffee, and was served until 10 am. The kitchen was a full service kitchen and you can use any dishes there - bowls, plates, glasses, lots of cookware - all available all throughout the day, as long as you wash, dry and rack your own dishes. The place had a bunch of board games, a guitar and a beaten up piano. Lots of reading material including a little guide to the city and the hostel's history itself. People were super friendly and supportive. This location is literally minutes (walking) from the street with all the restaurants, local theater, bars, microbrewery, parks, the coastline etc. Parking was a problem though (no spots due to piled up ice, and no street parking allowed). They guided us to a church on the next block with 24h free parking, and it was a 5 minute walk back to the hostel.

We booked a room for a handicapped person and the room was squicky clean but... the common rooms where extremely old, not very well maintained, with a musty smell. In the kitchen, they were flower vases in which the water had calcified in the bottom, spider webs around. The stove top was very dirty et. Outside, the patio is dingy, the area around the outside fireplace very very dirty. This place needs to be refreshed and more attention to the overall upkeep. The employees are very nice and work like dogs, only 2 which is insufficient. The Board of Administration should have a look at this situation. Other hostels are very attractive so there is no reason to tolerate this situation.

Love this hostel; stayed here on my trip to and from the Atlantic provinces. Friendly people and a great kitchen for cooking. Great breakfast included :D

Staff were very kind, friendly, and eager to help. Entire hostel (rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, common areas) were exceptionally clean. Great breakfast and free bikes!
