Haven't been to the meadery yet, but just tried our first bottle of the black current honey wine and it is amazing! Can't wait to try the other flavors

A few years ago I fell in love with mead. So when I heard there was a meadery open in the area I knew I had to check it out. The first chance I got to go out I took it and I was not disappointed. I met with some of the owners (father and son), who took me for a tour of the facility and told me the back ground of the meadery and their strives to create unique flavors. Being someone who both enjoys drinking mead I also love brewing it. This granted a long and insiteful convorsation about flavor profiles and new methods of brewing. After some much appreciated exchanging of ideas it was off to the tasting room. The entire line up was there and I was fighting hard to curb my excitement to try them all. With out writing out a long review on each individual mead I will say every one I tried was a new experience. From the black currant to the wild, each was a mouthful of new flavor adventures. Familear fruits mixed with fragrant honey brought a smile to my pallet. But what I was not prepared for was their newest flavor, Haskap. It looks like an elongated blueberry, so I was expecting a similar flavor. I couldn't be more wrong, it was a mixture of citris with notes of blueberry and honey. It was nothing like I ever experience in my life. I could write about notes and hints all day. But that would not do the mead justice. All I knew is that I needed to take a battle home and sit with the crisis of sharing or enjoying alone. I wound up taking their entire lineup home as I had to share these unique meads with family and friends. I know they will fall in love with these meads as I have. Even though Grey Owl Meadery is the new kid on the block they have come out the gate swinging. They are not afraid of taking chances with new flavors you wont find anywhere else. They are a heavy contender in the growing world of mead and I for one am excited to see what flavors they come up with next to knock out my taste buds.
