Stately new building houses the Dark Horse Estate winery. Inside is a new restaurant, the Barrel Bistro. Only open for two weeks, they provide excellent service and serve up delicious food. Worth the trip to get there. NB: right next to the Huron County Playhouse (I and II). Attend a production there, then go to the bistro for dinner!

My partner and I really enjoyed The Dark Horsse, it is such a beautiful winery. We had our tour with Bill, he was so informative during the tour and our tasting after the tour. The restaurant in the barrel room has such an excellent ambience and the patio has a wonderful view. We didn’t eat there because we had reservations else where, but we will be back! I’ll look at Dark Horse as a wedding venue, when that time comes because I enjoyed it so much.

The beautiful Darkhorse Estate Winery is a welcome edition to the landscape of Ontario's West Coast. The winery is pure class with gorgeous patio-views and a massive U-shaped bar for walk-in tastings. Our tasting tour guide Alison was just as deep and complex as the elegant wines she served to us. Would drink again!

Beautiful winery! Servers were very attentive and knowledgeable. Enjoyed the tastings and then food on the patio. Elegant setting with a particular attention to detail.

Our first impression of the Dark Horse Estate Winery was excellent. That was last August. However I cannot say that our experience today lived up to that expectation. Today our server on the patio was prompt and pleasant. She explained that you were out of sparkling wine and could not accommodate our order for a Sangria. We did enjoy the Rosè that she provided. But still a bit disappointing. While we were on patio I noticed your 'chef' cooking pizzas on the outdoor oven (an excellent use of venue). I was not impressed by his food preparation as he did not clean his hands between opening up the oven, handling the cooking equipment, garnishing the pizzas, and placing them on plates (ie touching crusts). It appeared that he did not or was not provided the proper materials/training to clean his hands between handling different instruments. It is unlikely that we will return to the Dark Horse Estate Winery anytime soon. First impressions..well that was your line in the sand that you failed to live up too.
