I dropped off two mortise locks to be rekeyed. I was told I would be called when they were ready, but it would only take a few hours at most. Three days later, I hadn't received a call, but I was running errands and decided to swing by. My locks weren't ready, and he told me the two I brought to him couldn't be serviced, and he would have to order new cylinders. He said he would call when they arrived, and it would be a few days this time. It has been five weeks and three more phone calls. The last call to him was two weeks ago. Every call he had a new date. The last call, he told me they would be in the following day, and he would call me as soon as they arrived. I still haven't received a call, and I have since bought new locks off the internet for a fraction of the cost. He never called to let me know the status of my locks at any point. I'll raise the review to two stars if he ever calls.

I've been using them for years and they are an excellent, no frills locksmith. Great product, fast service and very helpful. They were willing to walk me through taking a lock apart and getting it to them vs coming out and charging me for service. I'm very pleased and will use them anytime I have a need.

We had our home rekeyed by Hoover Lock and Key. There were 4 doors total. Unfortunately, 3 of the 4 locks have broken. The woman who rekeyed the locks was very professional and helpful. She came to our home and fixed the broken locks timely for the first 2 instances. We should not have had to waste our time getting the repairs, but her willingness to stand by her work was appreciated. Unfortunately, I spoke to a gentleman when the 3rd lock broke. He was rude and didn't seem to care that the work was faulty and did not stand the test of time. I can not in good faith recommend Hoover Lock and Key to anyone. When 3 of 4 locks break...that is not a good sign of workmanship...

Had a car storage carrier with a key broken off inside the lock. Took it to another lock and key company in Birmingham and they gave up after about 5 minutes. Went to Hoover Lock and Key where they worked on it diligently for a half hour, got the broken key piece out, made a new key, all for under $20.
