There’s a bit of a language barrier with this shop. Especially when you ask them to explain why they charge 4.5 times to re-key one lock when the charge is $10 for other locks. It’s the same process, but one door handle was bigger. I pushed for an understanding on why and they asked me to leave. Needless to say, something isn’t right when you request price justification and are declined service. So much for the local locksmith.

Excellent friendly service. Reasonable prices. Be aware, they moved to another store in the same strip mall. They're down a short alley in between the Von's Supermarket and the Bank. New address is 13745 I believe.

Sylmar Lock & Key is a proper locksmith shop. The owner, Mr. Kim, is a responsible journeyman locksmith who is very capable at his job. The shop is located a short way down a pedestrian alley between Vons Market and Chase Bank. It is a cash-only business with a Chase ATM just a few steps from its door, if necessary. In addition to lock and key services they also sell merchandise such as locks, chains, and bolt cutters. There is a small customer area with a table and chairs for those who choose to wait on-site. I visited Sylmar Lock & Key in person to get a pair of locks rekeyed. He had the job done in twenty minutes at a very reasonable price. Before visiting his shop I tried the key duplicating counters at a few big box hardware stores and was rejected at all of them. Sometimes you need an authentic and skilled professional for a job and Mr. Kim has what it takes.
