The Flying Locksmiths of North Houston - The Woodlands

This is a dishonest company with a well planned scheme for scamming customers into paying exorbitant rates for services. Here’s what happened: One of the bedroom doors in our recently rented home has a keyed lock (unlike the other doors) that my wife and I did not know about. We accidentally locked ourselves out of the room. After trying unsuccessfully to pick the lock myself a few ways, I gave in and decided to hire a locksmith. I called around to several locksmiths that a quick google search returned. I was quoted approximate costs of $145 by one company, $75 by another. Then I called The Flying Locksmiths of North Houston. The receptionist indicated that the trip fee and that the minimum charge to open a lock was $75, depending on the lock. Since this was the lowest price so far I asked to be scheduled. Soon after I hung up a locksmith technician, called to confirm my address and said he was on his way. Since I was at work, my wife and visiting mother let him in, and he quickly opened the door. Then he told them the fee was $225. My wife texted me the price and I called The Flying Locksmiths of North Houston to discuss the huge discrepancy in the price discussed with the receptionist and his charge. He adamantly claimed they don’t give quotes on the phone, and that $225 is their typical lockout fee. I explained that he could lock the door and leave without pay. He then claimed they have a minimum trip charge of $100. At this point he was making my wife and mother very uncomfortable and they caved in and paid the $225 fee to get him to leave. I immediately called the number for The Flying Locksmiths of North Houston and explained the situation. They said “sorry we don’t give quotes over the phone”. I asked who was the manager and to speak with him. They said his name is Sam but he’s not in. I asked for Sam’s his full name and number, and was told, “I don’t know his last name” and was not given a number. Eventually I was put on hold and then hung up on. After this experience I read the other reviews more closely and realized that many/all the positive reviews are likely fake. Many are generic and they were almost all given around the same time. I am so disappointed that these individuals are operating unethically, and hope others will be more cautious than I was.

We had a door at our family practice clinic fall off a hinge which could cause harm to patients. Flying Locksmith came out immediately and rectified our problem with a reasonable cost. We will call them always for our needs in the future. Thanks Guys!
