Fogo Island Inn is an experience I will never forget. We were three couples celebrating our 25th wedding anniversaries last July. We lucked out with fabulous weather so awoke with our morning"break" (basket with coffee and scones) to views of icebergs. Staff are a mix of local and from Quebec hotel school, all interesting and professional. The details to everything Fogo are layered deep and every day a new detail was pleasantly exposed. The community and its origins plays a large role and all the delightful quirkiness of Fogo. Hiking is breathtaking on the island, bikes and vehicles always accessible, and a guide is available to everyone. Loved our visit...costly yes, but once in a life time was worth it!

Lunch at the Inn was chef prepared and of high quality. Prices are very high for what you get but I presume that has to do with the remoteness of this location and accesibility of ingredients. We also took the tour of the inn before lunch which I dont recommend. The balance between general public tours and guest privacy is of great concern to staff. A factor which is obvious to those on tour and makes the "tourist" feel like an inconvenience. I suggest the Inn stop offering the tours as there is no chance a balance will ever be reached.

We visited the Inn for dinner only, it was a fantastic experience. The view in the dinning room was breathtaking. The meal was pretty expensive, but worth every penny.

Lovely location. Way too many young inexperienced wait staff. Food is better than average. Disappointed with the dining experience. Service and menu ldid not meet expectations. The Inn and Inn staff fabulous. Dining room needs work. Not value for money.

Haven't actually stayed here, but I must say the building is extremely unique.
