Poor communication when it comes to the actual job specifics. And the specifics I'm talking about are hourly pay and hours per week. Recruiting by stretching the truth when dealing with pay is bad business. Here's a little mathematics to share. This math is called being punished for having kids in California. I'm a heavy equipment mechanic and a military veteran with a MBA. I was offered $16.00 per hour and 20 hours work per week. Daycare costs an average of $30 per day in Butte County. Two kids at $30 per day equals $300.00 a week. $16.00 x 20 hours equals $320.00 per week. Take out $20.00 for taxe deductions and I was expected to simply go to work to put my kids in daycare. Totally amazing. If I would have received the $22.00 to $25.00 per hour that I was told by Sandy during her call it would have been worth my time.

The short of it: The people make the company and Spherion has great people working for them. My experience was great. The process: Application, quick test, on-boarding paperwork done digitally, drug test then full time job. The longer version: I have been to other staffing agencies in the past and never had anything positive to say about them. I didn't like Rush in the least, very impersonal. Admittedly it has been a couple years since my last visit to Rush, but from that visit I wouldn't return. I was speaking with a friend whom asked me if I was looking for work, I told him I was and he told me to head over to Spherion, that they had some positions to fill. I was hesitant and a bit anxious from my prior experience with Rush. I didn't want to go there, but I needed to-so I did. The staff at Spherion were very friendly through the entire process. It was an easy no stress experience. I didn't call or have an appointment before I showed up in their Chico office. Hindsight, I probably should have at the least called them first. From what I have heard they stay pretty busy. I realize that I may have been lucky with being able to roll right on through from filling out the application to having a job in under an hour. I won't lie though, I am an exceptional human being. I filled out an application which took about five minutes then handed it in to the very nice lady in the front of the office. I watched a safety video and answered questions (took a test) based on that video. After passing the test I filled out some additional forms using one of their computers in the back. Everything from start to finish was very straight forward. Most employers test for elicit substances these days, no exception here. If you have a problem with testing then you have bigger problems and maybe you aren't being honest with yourself. I was given a full time job immediately, told what hours I would be working, where I would be working and the rate of pay I would receive. I opted to be paid through a debit card that they provide. I was given a card that my weekly paycheck would be direct deposited onto that same day, s I expect no delay in getting paid. In closing, I don't understand why anyone would rate Spherion here in Chico with anything less than a 4-star rating.

The women there are very nice. They try their best to get you a job in a tough Market.

Friendly staff members. Office could be kept a little cleaner though.

one of the worse staffed places i've ever been to, thats if their even open during buisness hours, one of the employees literally hid from me when i tried knocking on the locked door, there was no "closed for lunch" sign or anything of the sort. you can try calling, but they wont answer during buisness hours either, i had to call another office just to get the answers i needed. when i finally did get through to this office, and asked about my tax papers, the girl had rudly replied with "I dont know, wait a few more days." i will never send anyone here.
