I had the best experience with account manager and recruiters at TEKsystem compared to other agencies. I am sure not everyone is as lucky but I had great experience over 3 years and two different positions.

I was a new immigrant and looking for engineering jobs. They explicitly told me that they prefer engineers who have "local (Canadian/Toronto) experiences". It's a way to discriminate against new immigrants. Illegal practice and very terrible!

Teksystem always helped with the position and the job i was looking for. In the beginning Gracee Shorter helped me and guided through the job help after the completion of my studies. Right now I'm working with Amy Blaney and she is doing a great job and very supportive and also helps to gain and build up my confidence. Her efforts for me makes me really motivated.I would recommend Teksystem for the job seekers and also for the businesses who need sources. I am very Thankful to them. Thanks Amy and Gracee.

Oh boy are they an unprofessional lot. At least if you’re on the candidate side. They could not care the slightest about you. Let me tell you a tale. On Wednesday last week, I got a cold call from a girl named Hannah. We chatted for a while as we got to know each other. I’m currently working on a personal project, but when I do return to the workforce it will be as a Senior UI/UX Web Developer with a decade of experience. Despite my stating that the last place I’d want to work as a bank, she somehow managed to convince me to take a closer look. Once she saw my resume she called me in to meet them the following day, the Thursday. The meeting was fine, with her and her manager Alice. They seemed a little desperate for candidates and out of pity i completed their “technical test” which took over an hour and despite being labeled as “Angular 2” it consisted of mostly straight Javascript questions. Like it was 2006. Still, I passed easily. The friction point came next. Despite them calling me, me telling them I didn’t want to work for a bank and jumping through all these hoops in under 24 hours, that wasn’t enough. They wanted references. Now. To call. Before I’d even met the client. I managed to get a hold of two of my past managers and get them to agree to be a reference, but that wasn’t enough. They wanted CTO level references. Now. I told them I was uncomfortable with them hassling my references when I didn’t even know anything about the project or people. This went back and forth and yet they insisted. It culminated in a phone call between myself and the account manager. In said call I was treated to a lengthy diatribe about how they have an exclusive contract with this bank and they have to “heavily vet” their candidates so they give the best service to their clients. No. You don’t get the contact details for my previous CTO at this point. The commission they would have received from me getting this job would have exceeded $30k and yet they wouldn’t let me meet the client without them calling my references. So I said no. You can’t treat me like I’m some liability when I have a decade of experience. Hell, even straight out of university. It was all client client client. Thanks Alice and Hannah at the downtown Toronto office, I’ll never deal with TEKsystems again.
