Both Dr. Maya and Dr. Alex have been wonderful vets for my 13 yr old dog. They take the time to explain their findings and always offer the best care and advise on keeping my dog happy and healthy. Front end staff and vet techs are great too, which definitely helps ease the animals. I would not hesitate recommending anyone to Healing Paws!

Dr Maya is very caring and knowledgeable. She only does what is required and keeps costs down by suggesting alternate natural remedies. Kind, considerate care with your fur baby as the priority. She is also very patient and answers all questions in detail. Thank you for being here for me and Chloe

Always takes amazing care of my animals! The staff is incredibly kind and caring, and remembers my cats and details about each of them. Couldn't recommend this veterinary enough!

Last Saturday Dr. Maya gave our dog a clean bill of health. By Wednesday we had him in the emergency vet hospital, (after Dr Alex couldn't be bothered to return our calls) because he was on the verge of a diabetic coma and everyone was shocked that he could still walk. After 3 years of being told (by both vets) to put our fat dog on a diet and refusing to believe our assertions that the fat dog generally ate less than the thinner dog... it turned out that he is not only a diabetic, but very likely has Cushings disease. For the last three years he had been exhibiting symptoms of Cushings and symptoms of diabetes for the last 6 months. It also turns out that the "blood testing" we'd been dutifully paying extra for (which would have caught this early), was simply a much higher priced titres test with no actual blood work being done at all. In other words our 5 year old dog has not have any meaningful medical care in his entire life. He has also had visible symptoms of Cushings for the last 3 years - starting with the weight gain that settled into a noticeable pot belly (a classic Cushings symptom) and finally ending in clear indications of severe diabetes (blood glucose of 30+). His most recent check up consisted or Dr Maya's joy that Bruno had finally lost weight - apparently losing 30% of his body weight in less than 6 months was not cause for concern. "You've added 5 years to his life" was the "diagnosis". The excessive thirst was also apparently not concerning enough to raise alarm bells. When you are led to believe that regular blood testing is already being done there is no sense of urgency - we had always believed that regular blood panels were part of his yearly check-ups - they never were. We only tested his glucose on a fluke because we have a glucose meter at home already for my diabetes. Our trust and loyalty to Healing Paws basically almost killed our dog. Aside from taking a great deal of our money, they have essentially done nothing medically meaningful for either of our dogs and have very likely shortened the lifespan of one.

The prices are a little high here and they always want to do biopsies etc, which is good but sometimes unnecessary. Great place to go if you are considering laser or acupuncture for your pet. I was pleasantly surprised when I brought up obtaining CBD for our dog (arthritis) and they were able to write the doctor's note ... Although with legislation around the corner there might be cheaper alternatives as it is quite expensive. As an aside, I HIGHLY recommend trying CBD (Cannabidiol) for your pet's pain as it works amazingly well. Made our old girl get out of bed and play like a puppy again.
