I feel so taken advantage of by East River Road Animal Hospital! My child’s hamster developed a tumour in its throat that we just noticed as it was bleeding through its eye and skin. I phoned Abercrombie Animal Hospital as I knew it probably had to be put to sleep. The poor thing was obviously suffering. They were booked until tomorrow. The cost would have been $10 for euthanasia. I didn’t want the hamster to suffer overnight so i phoned other vets. I got an appointment at East River Animal Hospital. I made the mistake of assuming the price would be similar. I was in shock when they handed me a bill for $131 for euthenizing a hamster. They charged $69 for an exam and $45 to euthanize plus tax. I almost couldn’t speak. The receptionist and the vet said that is what they charge. Now I know why there was nobody there and I could get an appointment. No animal deserves to suffer in death. How can one vet charge $10 and the other $131? I have never felt so taken advantage of. I will never ever go there again. 😞

The staff here were pleasant and professional. I had kittens spay and neutered and everything went extremely well. Both kittens recovered and healed quickly, which, I believe, says a great deal about the skill and care of the doctors and staff. I would recommend this hospital without hesitation.

This is not a good place to have your dog groomed. They book an appointment time but do not keep to it. They kept my dog over 3 hours and he came back completely shaved to the skin, he had a cut on his cheek and a blood stain on his neck. He was very lethargic and spacey for the next two days, even though we did not ask him to be medicated. The price was also higher then any professional groomer that I have taken him to (who only take half the time and do a proper cut). They should stick to being a vet service and leave the grooming to people who have the time to do it properly with care.

Cant believe there are not more negative reviews here. Must be the intimidation techniques used by the staff. Was quoted upwards of $1000 for an amputation of a cats leg. Had it done for $300 all in cost with no cost for follow up visit. My actual cost at East River Vet would likely have been $1500+ with follow up. Avoid at all cost these people pray on your emotions, up-sell any chance they get.

Took wonderful care of my daughter's kitten. Called the next day to see how it did over night.
