I made an appointment for my cat on June 29 because she was very matted. When we arrived at the appointment, we were told that because she wasn't tolerating being handled very well that she would need to be sedated to have the mats removed from her. I couldn't afford to have her sedated and shaved that day, so I said I would call back to make an appointment when I could afford it. I was charged $18 for that visit. Yesterday, my cat had a poo, and because of the mats near her bum, some got stuck to it. I had the money so I decided to call the vet to make the appointment to have her shaved. I was told they had an opening that day, so we went over. While in with the vet, I was told yet again that she would have to be shaved while under sedation, as I already knew. What I didn't know (because nobody told me) was that to be sedated, my kitty would have to fast for 8-12 hours, which she hadn't that day. The vet (same vet as the first appointment on June 29) told me again that I would have to make an appointment in the future because to be sedated she had to fast first. Nobody told me during the first appointment that my cat had to fast in order to be sedated for the next appointment. I was charged a total of $92 for this second appointment, $17 allocated to a prescription for 'diarrhea' that I didn't ask for and wasn't there for, and the other $74 or so for an 'exam fee', an exam we had already done 1 month prior and paid $18 for. I paid $74 for the vet to tell me what she should have told me during the first appointment, that in order to be sedated my cat had to fast. I called to speak with the manager who, after speaking with the vet, more or less called me a liar by saying the vet had a different story and my $74 charge would stand. The bottom line is, I should have been told during the June 29th appointment that for sedation to take place, fast my cat. If I had been told that, I would have fasted my cat before taking her in on July 31 and I wouldn't be out $75. This is not right. I will never be returning to Central Nova and will not recommend them to anyone. I'd give 0 stars if I could.
