By reading some of these reviews you might think this is a reputable Vet but think again! The following was my experience at Whitby Animal Hospital I brought my 14.5 year old cat to this Vet thinking she was constipated. The Vet briefly felt her stomach and agreed. He proceeded to give me an estimate for $1300.00 for what he claimed was necessary. I explained that was not feasible to pay especially for constipation. He finally got down to $565.00 for 3 enemas, an IV and a 4 hour stay. When I picked her up, she had still not had a bowel movement. When inquiring with the doctor, I was told "I knew what my options were (meaning the $1300.00) and unless I was willing to spend SOME money I should euthanize her as she couldn't continue on the way she was"! I was shocked!!! I have to euthanize my cat because she's constipated? After a couple of days of still no movement, I brought her for a second opinion (now she was restricting her food and water intake). Guess what ... through a proper physical exam and x-rays it was confirmed she was not constipated, dehydrated or had any obstruction or mass!! I had the option of doing blood work however after spending the $565.00, another vet visit and x-ray, I could no longer afford it. Two days later I had to have my cat put down as she couldn't continue without eating or drinking. Not only did Whitby Animal Hospital misdiagnosis of my cat - they showed no compassion and appeared to only be after money. I did confront the owner about the misdiagnose and outrageous quote I was given and the comment back - "you signed the authorization". Personally I expect a professional such a Vet/Doctor to know what they are talking about!! PLEASE keep this review in mind when booking your next Vet appointment - my family is heartbroken our cat is no longer with us!!

We recently had to put our two cats down at this location. (They were sisters, both very old and sick.) We brought them in to have them examined & the vet confirmed they were in pain and there wasn’t much worth doing at this stage in their lives to remedy it. The following day, we brought them in to be euthanized. We were both visibly shaken and upset, as anyone would be. The vet entered and saw that we had two cats and said ‘you’re putting them both down today? That’s sick! You must be so upset.’ I’m not sure if it’s a regional thing, as the vet did not sound like he was from around here, but I’d suggest avoiding using the terms ‘that’s sick’ when talking to clients who are in a very delicate situation emotionally. I don’t think he was being malicious or judgmental but in that moment, I questioned our decision to be there, I felt guilty, and it upset me even more than I already was. Please choose your words more wisely in the future - losing my two babies after 18 years was the most difficult thing I’ve had to do. I didn’t need to have fuel added to that fire. Other than that, the staff were kind and helpful and we received a thoughtful sympathy card in the mail not long after.

Our kitten got fixed and her wound got infected, they suggested a 700$ aggressive procedure that would cut open our kitten even more. Went to another vet and they suggested a more passive option (antibacterial shot, Epson salt wipes and iodine drops) that was only 100$. She was perfectly fine after the less aggressive way.

We had to take my dog there to be euthanized and they were so compassionate. Dr Hurd was so kind explaining everything and giving us time to grieve our beloved girl. The girl at the counter was so kind after I called twice for information and then finally to book the appointment. Thank you so much for all your kindness and compassion. It was greatly appreciated.

Dr. Dhaliwal and Dr. Hurd are both really nice to deal with. The clinic is clean and well run and you can tell that the staff and vet techs all really love animals. Normally my dog is a basket case as the vets, but he was really calm with Dr. Dhaliwal.
