I've had 4 dogs, who all had different vets. I LOVE this hospital! The staff are super patient and friendly. The vets are very thorough and fast!! Just remember that it IS an emergency hospital, so you may be bumped down the list from time to time. I'll be bringing all of my future pets here.

We were on holiday out of the area for about 8 days. We boarded our cats, all three of them, at our regular vet in Forest Glade. All three are rescue/strays and getting on in years. Bruce was an insulin dependent diabetic. On the evening of the 30th, we got some calls about Bruce. He was in a diabetic coma and his kidneys had pretty much shut down and our regular vet transported him to Walker Road to see if there was anything they could do to bring him back. The prognosis was dire. Several missed calls and text messages later we decided that it would be selfish of us to vigorously intervene in order to buy Bruce two or three weeks more time and we made the decision to end his discomfort. We had to call Walker Road after talking with the regular vet so TWO folks at Walker Road would hear the decision directly from us. Note that we were at my nephew's wedding reception when all of this began. We spoke to the requisite two folks at Walker Road and the second person, upon confirming our decision, asked, "How will you be taking care of this and the other expenses incurred? We can do it right away over the phone with a credit card." I was speechless, and my wife asked if this could be taken care of the following morning. The bill was settled up the following morning. Walker Road is an excellent pet care facility and their 24 hour availability has proven handy some years ago. The bedside manner is non-existent: at least that is the take-away from our last interaction. Asking to settle up over the phone when we're three time zones away, just after telling them to euthanize our 14 year-old cat, is completely devoid of compassion.

Would not recommend if you have an emergency ... My boyfriend and I brought our 6 month old chocolate lab puppy after she showed symptoms of an allergic reaction and threw up a worm on Canada Day. My regular vet being closed, we had no other choice but to bring her to be assessed and treated. I called a few times to check on wait times and it didn't seem to improve so we brought her anyways. When we arrived, I was told that it would be approximately 3.5 hours until she was seen. We had already committed to the wait time so that was not the major issue. During our almost FIVE HOURS that we sat and waited, I watched 5-6 pet owners leave empty handed after seeing their animals walk in with non-life threatening issues. Another woman sitting across from me waiting approximately the same amount of time had her dog die in her arms because a vet tech did not attend to it quick enough. It seems like this animal hospital is definitely more in it for the money they can charge people. They only came and looked at my puppy in the lobby after she vomited - 3 hours into us already being there. Very little communication with front desk staff, very disappointing experience. Take your pet where people will actually give them the best care.

Not a good experience going here. I would just say for anyone having a pet emergency, wait to see your regular vet. It is pretty obvious to me they are just looking to charge you money. Be very careful if you bring your pet there because they will most likely just try to bill you as much as they possibly can. Instead, go somewhere else and get your pet the support they need for a reasonable price. This place is very highly overpriced and not all that helpful.
