Originally this vet seemed very kind and had great rates, but once my dog's condition got a little more complicated, it all went wrong. Was told that my dog most likely had cancer and there was nothing more that could be done for her. I was given some meds which made her actual condition worse and she deteriorated quickly. Before putting her down I got a second opinion and it turned out she had a common condition that was easily treatable with the right medication, but I was never even given the option of those tests originally at this vet. I am quite upset that I almost put my beloved dog down due to an incorrect diagnosis and would not recommend this vet.

I have always used this vet, I wouldn't go anywhere else. It's a shame that one of the reviewer's had a bad experience with blood work, I have never had that issue. When my dogs have had their yearly exams, they have always asked if we wanted a full blood panel done, not just heartworm, as a matter of fact that's how I found out that one of my dogs kidneys were failing. They are very caring and compassionate, and I disagree that they are old school, they are a small clinic and if there is something beyond their scope they will send you to Guelph or the 24hr emerg vets that pretty much does any surgery that they cannot. I have always found them to be up on current treatments, So it's sad to hear this from another reviewer.

I just can't say enough good things about this place. They just care so much about the animals. I've been going their for over 12 years. The best thing about SVC is that we never have to question their recommendations. It is always for the best interest of the animals. I don't know why anyone would not want to bring their pet to SVC.

I hate leaving a bad review but I think since your pet is in their hands feel I should warn you in the best interest of your dog and your love for your dog. This vet comes across as very reasonable compared to others and caring at first but once your dog becomes a senior and with health issues you wonder why certain tests weren't done sooner during the annual physical exam. This vet has never offered a Urine or blood work test for kidney, diabetes, liver, etc. function. Now she has late stages of kidney disease/failure.If these tests were done earlier she would have had a better chance as her grain free high quality diet which might have had too high a protein count could have been changed. Do you think maybe during an exam they would have bothered to ask what diet she was on knowing she was allergic to corn. Kidney disease could have also come from over vaccinating... After diagnosing my dog with kidney disease went further and gave her a rabies and lepto vaccine which i found out later from another vet should have never been given to her in her condition. My dog was also over vaccinated yearly which apparently is too much. Over vaccinating can contribute to kidney disease/failure and other auto immune problems. Flea and tick and heartworm remedies were always given.... Did you know these medications are pesticides. There are natural remedies which work just ares well. Would you put that on your child? This vet is not up to date with current medical education and is set in her old ways of education. You get what you pay for with this vet.... an ultimate sick dog. Think twice before going to this vet. It's better to pay more and have your sweet bundle of fur around longer. They even apologized for not offering those tests earlier in a casual tone. Pathetic. How can you make a mistake like that. She had 1 comprehensive urine test when she was 10 weeks old. That's it.Blood work they do is for heart worm only unless you have the knowledge to ask for extra tests which is something they should tell you and give your dog every year.. Now my fur baby only has months to live at 10 years old. So sad. FYI- there were no symptoms whatsoever with this kidney disease and it doesn't show up until it's in its late stages. So make sure to get those yearly urine and blood work for kidney, liver, diabetes, etc. tests done throughout your dog's life.🐾 the blood work they do in this clinic is strictly for heartworm during your pets physical. Do your research about vaccinations. Look for a vet that is up to date with current education or even go to a holistic vet. Update: my dog passed away recently due to kidney failure needlessly. I put too much trust in this vet.
