My pet has been subject to circumstances resulting from business practices very much needing our attention as loving pet owners My dog underwent the wrong brand of surgery for her condition, at the Atlantic Veterinary College. The dog's face saw a faultily designed skin flap sewn over her nasal cavity and the error inevitably led to the deterioration and destruction of a facial area on the dog in question. I was obliged to do my own research and encountered the same lack of knowledge in the area of surgery in question. Numerous doctors on the Island finally expressed lack of confidence in correcting the error and one veterinary surgeon actually cancelled an appointment for surgery that he had scheduled the same week. Having some research skill and a basic understanding of biology I located the author of a work published in the United States of America that is a primary source work on the subject of reconstruction of wounds. This information was easily available through publishing and marketing channels that the general public can access. I was fortunate to be able to locate the practitioner responsible for the book and obtained the required services in the United States. The surgery was not so unusual and the knowledge could have been attained easily with minimal research to do the flap correctly, as evidenced through the resulting corrective work done over the resultant worsened wound. The tendency towards malpractice rather than a penchant towards completing research correctly in matters of common knowledge in veterinary medicine previous to any interventions upon animals needs to be checked and controlled. It shouldn't be the pet owner's work to do this, there is the matter of CONSUMER PROTECTION and in matters of pet care the pet is a co-consumer and requires defense of its vulnerable position. The first flap on my dog was performed this past summer (2017) and this month I visited the U.S. with the dog to have the correct procedure done (in January of 2018). The deterioration is documented in photos and so is the follow-up work. All records are available regarding the incorrect and then the correct procedure as both had been done. I don't know how the college plans to compensate for the inflicted grief and cost at various levels. What I do know is that they owe us. We did not go to them for games and experimentation.

Great experience first rate staff and Vets

I had a privilege of having my dogs seen by Dr. Stewart. We have been to many vets around the globe and this hospital ranks at the top. It's the facility, the people and their genuine love for animals. The parking might be a little confusing but for what you will see once inside, I'd rather have a confusing parking lot than a confusing operation. The vet students are also perks to the experience. They take time to talk to you and your dogs/pets.

They're stuck in second gear. Good luck getting your pet to a place ten million miles away.
