I have been going here for over a decade, always had nothing but good things to say, having always greatly appreciated the knowledge and caring service provided through multiple surgeries. I loved this place so much I travelled far to bring my new puppy here to be neutered. That being said, this place is not what it used to be since it has changed owners. one doctor i dealt with had no bedside manner for humans or animals. Way to traumatize a puppy into never wanting to return to the vet. Worst vet experience ever. I suggest going elsewhere. Response: I sent an email explaining the situation on December 8, to: info@hvlasalle.ca Titled: “Terrible Experience” ; no response.

I originally liked this place a lot when I first started with them 6 years ago. To first discuss the good things, I had just adopted my cat a few months prior so I brought her in for a regular check up. I actually had scheduled the appointment with a different vet, and totally made a mistake the day of the appointment and ended up at this vet instead, thinking it was the correct place. They ended up taking me on as a patient and did the appointment anyway for me right then and there, which I was so grateful for. I also find the staff pretty easy to talk to and kind to me and my cat. However, lately my experience over the past 1-2 years hasn’t been a super great one. I brought her in 3-4 times since November 2023 because something was wrong with my cat. They kept telling me it was different things but never anything problematic or worrisome, even though, I know my cat pretty well and it felt pretty worrisome to me. Finally I was the one to figure out the problem through my own research and called them to say what I suspected it might be, which I ended up being right about. Based on the symptoms I had mentioned upon my visits and what I know now, it surprises me a lot that they didn’t consider that as an option at any point because it isn’t entirely uncommon… I understand mistakes happen. But the worst part of it all was that as I was waiting in the consultation / patient room, I overhead every single word exchanged between staff members on the other side / in the lab. I heard them discuss my cats situation and say “how did we not notice this before?” and discuss all the other things they had told me it was each time. I could tell they felt bad and that’s why they were discussing it, but from the other side of the room I was mortified. Her situation has become severe at this point, and I can’t help but think it maybe couldn’t have gotten this bad, had they’d at least considered that a possible option and tested for it or asked me more questions. Again, I understand that mistakes happen. But it was really hard for me to overhear that and I kind of lost trust in them now unfortunately and will be getting another opinion from elsewhere.

I have been going for years and was always extremely pleased with the service, especially the techs. During COVID the prices increased dramatically. And I think they took on too many new clients. I used to be able to get an appointment within three days at the latest. Now it's takes minimum 2 weeks. What are you supposed to do when your pet has an infection for example? We will be changing to a more reliable place, even if it's further away.

I’ve been coming to this clinic for over 13 years. Back staff is amazing and the front staff for the most part is pretty friendly. The only thing that bothers me is the wait time ( getting an appointment takes forever ). There’s also a very long wait time if you need to make an appointment for an ongoing issue / follow up and there seems to be a big turn over with the vets which is unfortunate. They had an amazing vet a year ago for a few months that ended up leaving. His replacement was amazing as well and sadly he left also. Definitely not the same clinic or atmosphere than a few years ago when the staff was more stable.

We showed up with our dog Winnie that has been having severe allergy issues. The doctor we saw was convinced it was a dietary issue despite the fact that the last doctor we saw at the same clinic was convinced it was not a dietary issue. The doctor told us a shot (Cytopoint) would help with the allergies and that it cost 138$. Based on that information, we decided to give our dog the shot. We then realized they charged us over 300$ for the shot. We tried discussing this with them and they refused to refund us the difference despite the fact they were clearly in the wrong. In fact, the vet who treated our dog and gave us the prices seemed to be deliberately avoiding us while we tried to sort out the issue. We definitely feel like there was a bait and switch going on. Needless to say we will NOT be going back. Avoid if you can. Editing this review after the generic reply from the owner. Refunding us the difference from your error would go towards fixing the issue but I notice that this wasn't offered. Again, not very comforting if you have an issue with them.
