My first encounter with FYI was a year ago. My vision was deteriorating and I was prescribed glasses after being notified of a hole and a minor cataract in my right eye. I was referred to an ophthalmologist for the hole, suggesting they may be able to repair it and refer me for cataract surgery. I purchased the glasses recommended- they were not cheap but cost has to be judged with service offered. The glasses were not very effective, during a follow up appointment they were adamant the prescription was correct and there was nothing else that could be done. These were my first set of glasses, I trusted them.
The hole was repaired and the cataract was fixed in quick order, which I was told was major and responsible for my deteriorating vision. My vision returned and I now have an expensive pair of glasses I no longer needed. This was verified during my current yearly checkup and the suggestion was I replace the right lens in my glasses for reading use, they would offer me a deal. That deal, $640.00 for one lens!
I feel I got a pair of glasses I did not need, tried to temper a bad investment to get some value from it and was only offered a chance to spend much more. I feel misled by what I thought to be a medical organization that was neither economical, accountable nor service oriented.
