Staff is so punctual and efficient. Great personal and attentive patient care. Dr Morioka is great!

My first experience here was in the summer of 2014. I was getting headaches and blurred vision after staring at a computer screen all day, and was diagnosed with tired eyes. They prescribed computer glasses that worked decently well. No problems there. My second visit was either July or August of 2015. I wanted to get a pair of sunglasses through insurance. They helped me pick out some great looking frames. I was told that I would have to put a prescription in them for me to get a discount. Somehow the frames still cost well into the $200 range. OK, sure... I did it. The sun glasses came a few weeks later in August. My eyes weren't adjusting well. I was told they would take a few weeks to adjust. I just powered through it for a month. I stopped using my glasses as the days grew shorter during the winter since I didn't really need them. I started them wearing a lot recently. I had headaches at the end of the day and couldn't figure out what was different. It was the glasses. I went on the Oakley website and saw that replacement lenses would be $50-100 depending on the type I wanted. Amazon has non-Oakley lenses for $20. I called the office to tell them of my situation and find out my options.I knew that because I had waited so long there would be some out of pocket cost. Fine. My mistake. The receptionist seemed uncaring of the situation and informed me it would cost $70 for the same non-Oakley lenses I could get from Amazon for $50 more than Amazon was charging! But, I had a second option. I could buy the glasses and non-prescription lenses for $300! WHAT?! How does this make sense? The office visits were good enough to be a returning patient. I would just never buy anything from them should I have wanted to return. So, why go?

My oldest daughter accidentally discovered this optometry office when needing a quick exam before returning to school. Turns out she discovered a practice that provided our entire family more than just standard eye care. Through their routine questions during her exam Dr. Penza determined she would be a great candidate for BVD treatment. She came back for a more thorough exam and low and behold, she is a great candidate for prism glasses (to help with a slew of side effects). Nonetheless, our entire family was evaluated and turns out 4 out of 5 of us should be wearing prism glasses (there are only a few optometrists in the country qualified to evaluate). Headaches that I grew accustomed to on a daily bases for DECADES are no longer present. This has been a great experience. The entire team at the office are spectacular and caring. Thanks City Optometry for helping us all out.

I was referred to Dr Penza in 2016 for treatment of binocular vision dysfunction which in my case was caused by a chronic neurologic disorder that affects my eyesight and balance. Because of the complexity of my particular problem, I was skeptical at first that prism eyeglasses could help, but decided to get them anyway, and was really surprised and encouraged by the relief I obtained. A few months later, Dr Penza fitted me with custom multifocal contact lenses, also with prisms, which better suit my activity level while still compensating for the double and blurry vision caused by my condition. The improvement has been amazing. The staff and doctors are very knowledgeable and friendly and the service is outstanding. I travel from out of the area and encourage others who need this type of treatment to come here to get it- definitely worth the trip.
