This was my first and will be my last visit to Visionary Eyecare. When Dr. Lam showed me the photos of my eyes they had taken he showed me spots on both photos that he said were abnormalities that he found concerning relating to signs of Glaucoma. He said that I needed to have another test that is not covered by OHIP to determine the cause. He said it would be $85 but I needed the test. Considering my family history of Glaucoma that resulted in my Grandmother's blindness I was quite alarmed and agreed to have the test. After the drops were applied and the extra test completed he showed me photos again and told me they were normal and there was nothing wrong with my eyes. So if the test showed nothing wrong...what was the abnormality Dr. Lam noticed in the first set of pictures? Why did he say there was swelling? So I needlessly paid $85. To add insult to injury when I went to pay for the test I was told I had to pay $205. I asked for clarification of why it was so high and was told that was the test plus my exam fee. I explained that as I had stated to them when I made the appointment and filled out the info as a new person that I have Graves Disease so my eyes have to be regularly monitored and measured and recorded so OHIP covers my eye exams. I explained that all of my eye exams have been covered by OHIP for years even since the the changes that were made to what OHIP covers in 2004. She said Dr. Lam says it's not covered and she said she Googled it and it doesn't say it's covered. So basically they are calling me a liar. I only went to this place because my regular place did not have an appointment available during my holidays. I should have waited a few weeks and taken a day off work. $205 spent for no reason. An expensive lesson learned. Please Note : Graves Disease is not Thyroid Disease. It is an Autoimmune Disease for which there is no cure that causes your own immune system to attack various parts of your body not limited to but including eyes. If it is not covered why does OHIP pay for my eye exams at other eye clinics?

The staff is highly professional, efficient and personable. On a recent visit I commented to Dr. MacLeod that they all buzzed about with incredible energy and were very proficient in undertaking their tasks from answering the phone and greeting incoming clients to stopping whatever they were doing to assist a client personally with whatever question or concern was presented. I felt acknowledged and appreciated by every member of the staff through every step of the examination and fittings. My glasses actually arrived a week early than anyone expected. This is how a professional medical team should operate and they do.

Great Staff and Dr Kirby Lam is fantastic with our whole family. He is very engaging and makes my children feel at ease throughout their exams. I had picked out a pair of glasses after my exam but when I went to pay for them they were no longer available. An amazing staff member contacted the company who made the frame I wanted and they sent in a pair for me. Thank you to Dr Lam and his wonderful staff. Love my new glasses!
