I had my eye exam here. I called them to book an appointment. It was quick and they reminded me again of my appointment 2 days before and told me what to bring. I didn't need to wait and the instructions were clear. The exam was very thorough, which lasted around an hour. They explained everything to me and were patient when I didn't understand something. There's a contact lenses clinic on the second floor and other services. It was a good experience going there. The price was 90 if you dont have your insurance.

poor place. People are indifference in the optomitry and not professional.

Our family has been receiving 15 plus years of amazing service and counting.

This rating is primarily because of poor receptionist service, but secondly due to a doctor acting unprofessionally and also making a lazy diagnosis of my symptoms as merely a computer screen related issue. I've visited this clinic twice and tried to a third time before writing this review. In July of this year I had a lot of trouble calling, trying to make an appointment or to see if they had received my referral from another doctor. After not getting through and assuming that the receptionist was temporarily busy, I called after a few minutes and still couldn't get through. Assuming I was wrong and that the receptionist was busy with something requiring a longer service time, I waited and periodically called back every 30-60 mins. I still couldn't get through to anyone. I just had this happen to me again with something less important, trying to reschedule an appointment, and it's not fun to go through. Earlier today when I scheduled the appointment, I got passed between receptionists to someone in the Contact Lens Clinic and after asking "are there experts at this clinic with experience diagnosing Keratoconus" I was given a long spiel about how I shouldn't doubt the expertise of UW optometrists because they are some of the best in the country. I then asked how soon someone could see me and the receptionist told me "you know, you're being very difficult" and that I shouldn't expect to see anyone soon. Related to my secondary issue of complaint, the first time I visited an optometrist here the doctors were leaning against their respective door frames, laughing through a conversation before I turned the corner and they quickly shut up and slunk away. I then went through an eye exam with a student who took everything very seriously and seemed to know what she was doing. One of the laughing doctors then came in to see me and review the student's work but acted very casually, in stark contrast to the student. This doctor then told me that the problems with my vision were caused by computer screen use and not using special wipes to clean oil from my eyelids every day. I now realize that this was a very lazy diagnosis, as two different optometrists I've seen in the past year have both come to the conclusion that Keratoconus is the cause of the symptoms I am experiencing. Wish I had heard that earlier.

The best optometry clinic in Waterloo. You get a thorough exam by a senior student followed by a consultation with a faculty member. My previous optometrist spent maybe 5 or 10 minutes on an examination. At UW expect a checkup to take an hour.
