EyeWorld Optometry

I went in there as a cancer patient with an eye injury. My injury is covered by OHIP as it has been before. The staff however wanted me to pay them $100 just for walking into their office. Their oversized middle aged secretary stuffed her nose in the conversation I was having with a more competent staff member. Since I didn't want to cooperate with their abusive money making scheme, they made me leave the office. I recommend do not go there. They only want to make money off of you even when your eye condition is covered by OHIP. Shameful practice. AVOID! EDIT: I went to Total Optometry and I had the same conversation with them as I did with EyeWorld Optometry. It went well: I asked for the Eye Injury OHIP covered treatments and told them I don't want to pay a single penny out of my pocket. The doctor just did her job, prescribed medicine, etc.. OHIP covered this for me. She also told me my injury made me temporarily 50% blind in the eye - this was already pretty obvious since I can't really see well with it now. Later I got a call from EyeWorld's manager and told me she thought my experience with them was a misunderstanding. I do not know if she really meant that or tried to downplay the criminal and probably racist behaviour of her staff, but I do not think it was a misunderstanding. I told them I have a chronic eye injury (which they should know is covered by OHIP), and that my usual clinic is closed on Tuesday, so I need to see an eye doctor today for treatment. They ignored that completely and demanded that I take their non-OHIP covered tests and pay $100 for them. Since I refused being swindled, they kicked me out of their office instead. I do not see where the misunderstanding is. In my experience/opinion, they wanted their $100 + OHIP coverage for my eye injury. I feel I am being very empathic as I say this, because the cancer is a huge life and death deal to me: cancer or not, side effects from chemo or not, that doesn't matter!!! A patient walked in with an eye injury, 50% blind in one eye, and you refused to treat that patient!!! Shame on you! Since the call was a nice enough gesture, this review does indeed submit 1/5 stars rather than the 0/5 stars they deserved before.

The staff is very helpful and willing to take time to ensure that you are adequately supported. Amazing customer experience!

Very knowledgeable staff and Dr. Shin explained in great detail with such a professional manner. Ic!
