I have been a patient of Dr. Karin Rummell's for almost 20 years. I also brought my 3 kids (who are now young adults) to her for their regular check-ups. In addition to the check-ups, we purchased everything from glasses to contact lenses, and were generally satisfied with the care. She was usually friendly and competent on the dozens of visits we had made over the years. However, just today I ran into Dr. Rummell in the neighbourhood and needed to ask her about a personal issue regarding a property owned by her family, where her son now lives (long story that's not relevant here), and she looked at me blankly, saying she didn't know me at all. Of course, the issue was rather contentious and there has been a complete lack of accountability from her family, but she wasn't even willing to admit that she knew me at all. Not even the faintest recollection. I'm surprised, disappointed and confused. I guess my family and I didn't matter to her as patients despite the dozens of times we met with her in her office. And we clearly don't matter as neighbours either. Needless to say, I'm looking for a new optometrist.

I have been going here since I was 12 years old and I always feel welcomed and comfortable

The eye exam was great very thorough. Dr.Rummel is very friendly and professional. Gave me my prescription and didn't even try to sell me glasses that they sell. I really appreciated that..

Eye exam was good but when I was trying to purchase glasses elsewhere they would not send the prescription to another optical. I waited over a week for them to do this and eventually had to go and get it myself. My sister had the same problem with this office. they would not send her daughters prescription to another office and it had to be picked up. I feel like they are doing this so you feel a need to purchase from their office. Not Impressed!

I've gone here for many years. Traditionally excellent, over-the-top service. For some time last year, they had a staffing issue which would likely explain the previous bad review. Things are back to normal. If by normal you expect to have your lenses re-made as many times as it takes to get it right, and follow-up calls, and friendly, professional service. A really great place to get your peepers.
