We researched Calgary Marriage Commissioners online and found Lynda Halliday, who responded quickly and comprehensively to our enquiries. We subsequently chose Lynda to perform our Elopement Marriage Ceremony on December 1, 2016. We found Lynda to be very professional as well as very accommodating to all of our needs; namely, she offered her home for our wedding ceremony since we live out of town, she provided two witnesses and she was very receptive to us writing our own wedding vows. Our first meeting with Lynda was on the day of our wedding. We immediately felt very comfortable and at ease with Lynda as she openly welcomed us into her home. We found her home to be the perfect setting for a private, intimate wedding ceremony. She had candles lit and soft music playing in the background to create a wonderful atmosphere for our special day. Lynda is a kind soul who is soft spoken, light hearted and very pleasant. The words she spoke as part of our wedding ceremony were very meaningful and touched our hearts. We are very grateful to have found Lynda as everything about our wedding ceremony was perfect for us and gave us beautiful memories that will last forever. We highly recommend Lynda as she exceeded all of our expectations of a Marriage Commissioner. Words alone cannot express our deepest appreciation to Lynda for making our wedding ceremony so amazing! Lynda was a pleasure to work with. We needed to legalize our destination wedding from a few weeks earlier. From start to finish, the process with Lynda was easy and seamless. We had a simple ceremony in her home and in less than 30 minutes, the process was done. Her warm and welcoming approach made her a true pleasure to work with. Highly recommended!

From the moment i spoke with Lynda on the phone I knew that we had found the perfect person to marry us. Her soft voice gave me the confidence that she would be able to make us feel comfortable throughout the process. My fiances first language is not English and he was nervous and apprehensive about repeating all of the vows but he said that Lynda made him feel accepted and her kind demeanor meant the world to him. She helped him through the process and took her time through our ceremony to make us feel important and special. When the ceremony was done she added a special native prayer for us which was very sweet and meaningful. Lynda explained the paperwork process, answered questions and made the whole experience beyond what we could have asked for. All of our friends present felt welcomed in her home and enjoyed her company. Her energy is positive throughout the whole experience. We would highly recommend Lynda to any couple who want their ceremony to feel like they are the most special people in the room. She made us feel like our vows, our ceremony and our day was not just a process to her, but she was genuine and present.

Every bride has their own story. Lynda was a vital part of mine. I went from planning my wedding that was to take place in 2015, to planning it to happen in 3 weeks. I had messaged a handful of commissioners and I either didn't get a response or I got a "I can squeeze you in at..." type response. I was on the verge of a breakdown - I needed someone to marry us! Then I got an email back from Lynda, and everything seemed to get better. From her first email back to me, to our first conversation on the phone, Lynda just has such a calming and welcoming vibe that she is sure to help any bride relax, and that will keep any groom happy! The first time my husband and I met Lynda, we were welcomed with a warm hug and felt like we were meeting with someone we knew our entire lives. This was definitely the woman we wanted to marry us! Lynda provided us with many options for the ceremony and even suggested we added on the "hand ceremony" - which I HIGHLY recommend. (The first time I read it, I cried) Lynda is so patient - which is what every stressed out bride needs; she is full of love in her heart for what she does and the couples she works with. The thing I appreciate most was that Lynda was able to provide useful advice for the ceremony and in starting your marriage. I truly believe she is the best way to start your life together. My husband and I will always have a love and respect for our marriage commissioner that I know other people have not experienced. Your day is a special one and Lynda makes sure you don't forget it.

We would just like to thank Lynda for making our Wedding Day the perfect day that we were dreaming of. Lynda was fantastic and made things run smoothly from start to finish. Her words were calming and heart felt. Leading up to the wedding, she took the time to ask questions and make sure it was exactly what we envisioned. She made our daughter Sophia feel like she was every part of the ceremony and we are so thankful for her ideas to include her.  Everything looked amazing and was set up so beautifully for both the wedding ceremony and the Family Sand Ceremony. Lynda made our ceremony personal and sound as though she had known us for years. Her home was beautiful and the perfect setting.  We could not have asked for anything more. The witnesses she provided were kind and very helpful. We will always fondly cherish and remember that day and the part Lynda played in making it amazing.
