What a beautiful hotel!!! Accommodations are expensive, but it is truly a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are clean, the staff meticulous with details like turn down service: music on, beds turned down on the side they noticed you slept on, water bottles by the bed with a glass, etc. They even folded my daughters blankets in her pack n play. The hotel has beautiful views, is centrally located in the heart of Victoria, serves high tea, and is fun to walk around. If you need to park your car, parking is available for a daily fee. Definitely would love to stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for our 6 year anniversary and we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. They just remodeled the whole hotel and it looks amazing! It is a perfect combo of old and new with lots of beautiful modern touches. Upon arrival, the front desk upgraded us to a Harbour view room because it was our anniversary. From beginning to end everyone treated us there like royalty. When staying here you have to have their high tea for the ultimate “royal” experience as well as their massages and facials. It was such an incredible experience. The food at the hotel is also delicious. We had the breakfast here and drinks/food on the Veranda. Overall, our stay here was beyond incredible and would recommend this place to everyone. Also you can’t beat the location. We didn’t have a car and had everything we wanted within walking distance. All activities, restaurants, and views are so close.

Extremely nice suite with a gorgeous view. They have a wonderful indoor pool, very clean and well appointed. The staff has gone above and beyond to make our stay a very enjoyable one. The two things I also recommend is the Empress Restaurant and they also have a high noon tea. This is an extremely fine hotel; highly recommended.

My husband and I honeymooned at The Empress in 2013. We returned last week to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. We booked a Gold Level room because we enjoyed the Gold services on our honeymoon. I included all our anniversary information in the notes when I booked the room. Unfortunately, it was not the experience we were hoping. First of all, the hotel has gone under a major renovation. It has lost all its charm, and is now just like any other nice hotel. Nothing special. We entered through the main lobby and were directed to Gold Level desk. The directions were poor and it took us over 20 minutes to find it. After check in, we went in our room to find a small piece of cake that said “Happy Birthday”. Very disappointing. Our Gold Level room had no view, and overlooked part of the roof and brick wall. Our room also didn’t have any shampoo or conditioner. I expected more from staying on the Gold Level, and being returning guests. Not how I imagined spending our special occasion.

I visited the Empress with a buddy and his family, and got the chance to see the amenities and the Fairmont Room of the hotel. The High Tea was great, but not worth $70. You do get a lot of food, sugar, cream, and tea options, but the actual stuff you're consuming doesn't feel quite worth that much money. The room was over $400 per night, and it was nothing special at all. You merely pay a fee to say you stayed at the Empress. A typical Double Queen room with a bathroom and a closet that's smaller than most living rooms doesn't make sense to cost so much. Overall, everything was incredibly posh and classy, but why on Earth anybody would pay so much for the experience, I have no idea.
