The tour only showed a few rooms on the main floor as the building is still in use by the nearby school. However, the place is definitely worth checking out, and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, and answered every question asked of her with a ton of interesting details. I would recommend checking it out.

I knew this was the XMen movie location but didn't know how awesome it would be in person. It's an old military institution currently a school. The grounds around the castle are free and beautiful, the paid gardens are 26 acres of carefully groomed gardens and semi wild gardens. The investor of the castle is vintage but luxurious. Lots of opportunities for photos. Parking is also free.

Awesome gardens! You don't get to see a lot of the interior but the tour is very interesting and a fascinating compliment to Craigdarroch Castle in Victoria (same family, different generation but no thanks to Daddy). Don't even think about trying to get a cab to pick you up there, though, and it's a hike to the bus stop.

Beautiful campus to walk around, some great trails on the left (when facing the ocean) for walking and running. The gardens on the other side are beautiful as well. Enjoy the outdoors, likely you won’t get into the castle though.

The house is amazing, DO NOT PAY FOR THE TOUR!!! They will take you into 3 or 4 rooms that they have put no effort at all into restoring. Come on! The billiard room has a couple of ratty garage sale couches in it. With 20 people in our group paying almost $20 each it shouldn't take long to save up for some furniture that is period to the house. Walk in the front door and look around until someone asks you to leave. It's not locked, it's the offices for the school, people are coming and going all the time. It's obvious that to them it's not a piece of architectural art, just a building. They seem to care a lot more about the gardens.
