Fantastic way to spend a day, I’m not a gambler, but with the lowest bet that you can put on a horse being $2 you can just about spend the entire day there. Watching the horses race by or seeing them paraded before a race is exciting. I like to sit outside with a beer and get some sun while I wait for the horses to come thundering by the finish line. If you don’t know anything about horse racing or betting, you can buy a booklet at the door that is easy to follow and has the horses for each race and suggested possible winners. This place has it all, vlts, food, and even (when I was there) a quick free class on understanding the stats and racing terms. No need to spend a lot of cash to have a good day out. Check it out, I’m glad I did.

Assiniboia Downs never let's me down. The staff are very polite and welcoming. New to the races? They have your back when it comes to reading and understanding the programs before you bet! Most people think the Assiniboia Downs is a place of gambling, for me it's a place to hang out, relax, enjoy the fresh air and spend time with good company. Fair warning: prices for food and beverages can be pricey ( as most entertainment venues are ) so be prepared!

We always have fun here. Always enjoy good customer service at the restaurant and watching /betting on the horses is so much fun, even for us "newbies";) Be sure to get close to the horses when they parade them in the pre-race prepping stable to the left of the building and get a bird's eye view of the live race from the 3rd floor grandstands. Good times await!

The trick is to always bet on the horse that looks the most scared. You can clearly see in their eyes that they know about dog food, glue, and bologna. I often buy a hot dog and sit in the front row, raise my eyebrows and point to the horse, then the hot dog, back and forth. We both know what kind of second place meat goes in there.

Had a fun time. Service is great and food isn't bad either. Whether it's a night out with friends or a day with the kids, really enjoyable venue.
