This is a great attraction if you're in Yellowknife in March! Very impressive structure built up by the community over the course of the winter to make the castle itself. It's very beautiful! They're open during the day as a very child friendly activity site with ice slides and climbing tunnels. There's a little snack shop that sells hot drinks and soup. There's a main stage inside where the evening events take place. You can sit on chairs on the main floor or rent one of the booths. Great community vibe and volunteers!

Ice castle was incredible! I recommend going when there is an event (both daytime and nighttime) inside as it only takes a few minutes to walk around and see the entire place. Need some form of entertainment to encourage you to hang around in the cold and experience it for longer. They sell hot chocolate and coffee inside. The slide is very fun and was surprisingly fast!

Fun place, really family oriented. Lots of kid activities in the day, slides, climbing, hit chocolate etc. In the evening there is live music and dancing. The castle was a wonder of snow architecture. There were the usual snow block wallsetc, but the interior spaces were well designed arched/vaulted ceilings worthy of some gothic cathedrals, only a lot smaller. The views around the castle and from its ramparts are worth the admission charge. Connecting to town proper via Ragged Ass Alley (local landmark and historical site), it is a medium walk, or a short cab ride from city centre

A dream come true! A giant snow castle with slides, a stage and a snack shack! Loved this so very much. Visit Yellowknife in March so you too can enjoy living this dream.

Came to Yellowknife at the last evening of the festival. It's too late, and dark to visit. Anyway, made an effort to visit the site next day. The door of the castle was closed, and some ice sculptures outside were broken. But it's good experience to us though.
