I hosted a party at this venue. The venue itself is lovely - modern, clean, and well-kept. The kitchen is large and fully equipped. The dance floor is kind of on the small side though. My guests commented on how much they liked the venue. Specifically, it was nice to have the covered patio deck out back. Unfortunately though, my experience with the staff was rather unpleasant. First let me say that the kitchen staff were delightful and kind. However, the people who run the business side of the centre were moody and sometimes even rude. They seemed to just make up prices for things on the spot and would not give me the prices in writing. Pricing seemed to be arbitrary, like they were flying by the seat of their pants. Also, they charge for every.little.thing. Other venues offer a package that includes many of the little details. What's more, I was told that most of the staff (kitchen staff included) are volunteers, and yet the venue tried to charge us extra for things by rationalizing that the kitchen staff had to do the extra work (but obviously they weren't being paid for it). In all, as I said the venue is charming and quaint, but dealing with the management is another story. Just be aware as they seem to really only care about the bottom line.

I was the liaison between a Women's Group and the McDonnel Street Activity Centre for a luncheon serving 100 ladies last month. The Banquet and Facility Manager along with her co-workers couldn't do enough for us. They were wonderful accommodating our needs and making certain all ran smoothly. The event included an auction, draw, entertainment as well as lunch. Our Ladies Group praise the facility and the care we received and have chosen to book our yearly celebration at McDonnel Street next year.. The venue has a superb atmosphere and is modern and clean with easy access facilities along with a covered verandah and attractive spacious view. Though the Centre does not provide catering it has a fully modern kitchen and there are many caterers who enjoy using the magnificent kitchen and working with the staff who are all volunteers. Top marks for an incredible venue to hold your special day.
