Hockey Banquet - May 13th, 2017 - Rude Management 1. We made arrangements for an April 22 original date and paid deposit for in December of 2016. Rec'd call from in Jan - they double booked and wanted us to change our date. Hall agreed to waive Rental hall fee if we moved date. So we did, reluctantly. 2. May 8th (5 days before banquet) Hall requests final payment for rental, previously we were allowed to pay a few days after - new policy must pay before. 3. Hall says that previous manager now off sick - contract still has hall fee so me must pay. - We argue, they double booked us - we moved date - still the hall makes us pay. We have no choice - 240 people coming - so we pay the fee. Hall wants 10 per table - we say no contract says 8 / table - hall says easier for them - I say too bad contract says 8 / table. Hall adds additional tables / chairs 4. Day of set up - hall lets us in at noon (I made them write that in on contract) Hall complains that we have the lights on during set up - I don't know about you , but I need light to decorate 5. Hall Management ropes off an area of the hall and throws table cloths over items for sale. They tell us we can't use that area - we tell them that we would prefer them to move the stuff in the area and they say they can't - Stuff is too small and delicate to be moved - I rented the hall (the whole hall) but I guess not all of it? I explain that this is a hockey banquet with 150 kids, I don't want to be responsible - still they leave the stuff there. 6. Food - Head kitchen staff complains that kids don't drink tea or coffee so they don't need mugs - TOO BAD - I paid for every person in the hall to have tea and coffee - hall still refuses and only puts 4 mugs / table (we sat 8 people / table.) Hall provides plastic glasses for water. 7. Food - no complaints - they were very skimpy with pasta but when asked for refills they did comply. Buns were very stale, tasted like fish (fish fry from night before) 8. Service - Head cook / lady in charge of the kitchen / hall was so rude, ignorant almost, that she should be fired. The rest of the wait staff were very pleasant and did a great job providing the food. 9. Service - Clean up - I had to ask the staff to remove the plates after we had finished eating. Terrible. coffee and tea was served very late as a result. You get what you pay for. Will not be back and would advise anyone booking this hall to make sure everything they want / need is in the contract. Better yet pay a little more and go else where. We had a great night, but it certainly was to no thanks of this hall !!!
