Remember the old saying "You can't fight City Hall". Well in the case of Stratford City Hall, that appears to be the case. I arrived in town from Toronto to spend the weekend. I was running a little late for my 2pm performance when I parked a block away. I went in to get a slice of pizza and realized after spending about 15 minutes in the pizza place I realized I had neglected to put money in the metre. Letting my friend go off to the theatre, I circled back to feed the meter. I arrived to find a parking ticket on my windshield. RATS!. Ok ok I will pay it on line later. I pay the metre and rush to the theatre and enjoy a wonderful performance of Paradise Lost. Well later that evening as I looked at the ticket for the online address to pay I see two options, pay by mail or pay in person. I then realize that I could have run over to City Hall at intermission to pay the ticket. Now I need to find a cheque it has been about 5 years since I have written a cheque. I don't even know if I have any blank cheques. Lesson learned . Pay the metre.

This an amazing old structure, done in the style of an old Dutch City Hall. Stratford has a very interesting balance: it preserves it's history very well, while simultaneously planning for new future directions. Speaking with locals, they seem very pleased with their current Mayor who, by all accounts, seems to have a very progressive attitude to the community's economic development, while simultaneously valuing the many agricultural, manufacturing, culinary, architectural and artistic treasures found in this very fortunate little city!

Pretty nice building. Smallerish space we were in for a town meeting regarding the Cooper Building.
