All around horrible experience. You get the impression that you're a bunch of cattle being sent to the meat grinder. The staff really don't seem to care at all. To me it seemed that they just want to process paperwork instead of helping me.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Definitely avoid this place for your road test if all possible! Extremely picky examiners with unfair discretion, and are tricking new drivers with obscured playground signs that are not noticed till very last second, even if you slowed down a few meters after the sign. Location they used for test there was a 30km playground zone sign right after a busy intersection, and then followed by a 50km sign not even 100 meters from it. Unfortunately this is an automatic fail even if you are going 6km over the limit. This is an unfair way to trick someone. Will be calling Service Alberta and putting in a complaint. They are clearly cash cowing. Front desk staff is also unpleasant, and driving examiner was extremely dry and unfriendly causing you to be extra nervous. Go to the License Center, much more pleasant and helpful. Regret going to A-1. Will not be using this location for anything ever again!

A lot of poor reviews mostly about wait time. Every registry office in GP is the same. You know you are going to have to wait, always give yourself extra time when you have to go to ANY registry office! Have all needed documents ready, you can find out what you need on-line or by calling before going there. A1 is the best one in Grande Prairie. Staff has always been friendly & very helpful with me, never rude or impatient. If you approach with a smile, you will get one back, if you start with an attitude, you can’t expect anything different from them!

Moved here from another town, made an appt to get my GDL, ends up I was at the other location downtown. Girl wasn’t interested in helping me or booking another road test, just took my money and ran. Didn’t even bother to call me to see where I was at.
