Went to return an item I bought 3 days ago because it wasn't needed after all. They have a 14 day return policy. Cashier says "you need to get a floor sales member to sign the receipt". So I find one eventually, he writes a small novel on receipt. Needs to test the item to make sure it was still working. I return to cashier. She has no idea how to process refund. She goes for help and disappears for several minutes. Returns with another staff member. They struggle - and fail. More time passes. Lineup grows. After about 5 more minutes I get my refund. Total time for a simple refund - about 15 minutes. They are the only marine store in Vancouver and treat their customers like they know. Staff are rude, unhelpful and hard to find. Place is a mess. Has been for years. Shop online if you can.

I have to agree with others here that the customer service here is atrocious and can only be attributed to being the only option in the area. There are a few good people here, hence the 2 stars but overall it's a shame someone can't come in and replace them with a knowledgeable and customer friendly staff that is interested in being helpful. As it is, 9/10 times it's usually a bother for them to even answer a question. Give these guys a pass and order from Defender, West Marine or even your local yacht service supplier. Leave the Steveston staff alone, they're too busy for the "hassle" of dealing with customers.

Awesome selection of Marine Grade Hardware = It's a good place to go when you are working on your boat and need screws - nuts + bolts / They have a huge inventory of 316SS & other hardware. Bravo!!!! Oh Yeah - David Stein is the guy to deal with - He really knows his stuff & is by far the friendliest staff member. Highly recommend him.

These guys must benefit from the fact that there isn't other places to get there stuff. Staff is often agast that you dare ask a question and often are rude to the point of downright being certified a-holes. But they have a great selection of stuff that is hard to find anywhere else. But they are definitely the sort of place that Amazon could put under as soon as they carried some more of the items.

I see so many people on here ripping the team at Steveston and in my opinion most of it is unfounded. Since I bought an old boat I've been shopping there and picking their brains for over a year, some good, some bad advice. And generally I walk away with more information than I walked in with. I can't hold anyone accountable for explaining detail after detail of do-it-yourself info about this or that. That's what google is for. If you're uninformed, don't go to Stevetston Marine. If you know what you're looking for, the guys will always point you in the right direction and help. But do your research before walking in and you won't walk out with an ulcer, and write reviews on the interwebs telling everyone they're a joke, further compounding your problem. It's just a boat.
