If you're visiting Victoria or new to the area Elk/Beaver Lake is a wonderful spot if you're wanting to take a leisurely walk, run a 10 k all the way around or just sit have a swim and a picnic lunch. Both beach areas have play structures bathrooms and picnic tables. This spot is one of my favourite places to walk. There is only one " hill" and really no craggy rocky formations that would be difficult to get around. Puppies are welcome off leash as well as horse friends and there are also separate trails for bike rider enthusiasts. The lakes are both fish friendly so bring your pole if you like and if you go early enough in the day you can watch Canada's Olympic rowing team hard at work!!! On the Elk Lake side there is also a boat launch if you prefer that to just laying on the beach! So whatever your hobbies or interests in the out of doors this is definitely on my top 10 list!

Elk is a nice big lake, popular with boaters and rowers. Launch is at south end of lake. There is a 10k circle trail around both lakes, and public washroom at the north end of the beach, which is a nice area for families. Access is off Sayward road, north of the Beaver lake access, off the TC1. Beaver lake is smaller with easy access for young children, and public washrooms.

A lovely place for a swim. Sandy beach and clean water. Water is quite warm on a hot day.

The 10k round-lake walking/running is great experience, locals love this place, the only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that it's a lake but the water is not clean enough for swimming, it's contaminated by goose/duck poo poo.

This is a great place to take a stroll, walk your dog, go kayaking, cycling, horse riding, etc. The 10 km loop should satisfy anyone's activity level. With the close proximity of the numerous trees, it can make for some nice shade on a hot day as well as keep you relatively dry on those rainy days.
