I'm from the Yukon and the VSC always manages to accommodate me to get some sailing in when I come to Vancouver; in fact they recently let me join one of their races which was incredibly fun and exciting. Carl is tough but he is a very experienced sailor and you'll walk away with lots of practical knowledge. All the best teachers are a little tough though, aren't they? :) Great club and my partner and I look forward to learning lots more over the coming years.

Carl, just wanted to thank you for the great trip to Bowen Island on Saturday, We really enjoyed the cruise, I'm looking forward to booking sailing lessons with the VSC in the future.

We took the VSC101 Keelboat Qualified Crew Course & Certification with Carl Richardson from the Vancouver Sailing Club. Carl was a great teacher and we learned a lot. We were newcomers to sailing found the course to be a good introduction to the challenges of sailing the 36-foot Beneteau cruising boat. This is the most common type of sailing vessel with headsail(jib) and a main sail. Carl is an experienced sailor, an excellent teacher. He is tough as a skipper but that is what we needed. We like the active type of vacation experience and this is certainly that. The best thing was how safety was emphasized. We asked lots of questions and got excellent answers. Carl was easy to communicate with. We exchanged several Emails regarding the details of the course. The Vancouver Sailing club uses the NauticED for online education and certification which we found to be an excellent resource.

We joined a Bowen Island sail with 3 other couples last Sunday. Great weather and our sailboat ClaraALLEGRO was a blast- fast and very comfortable. Nice people and our skipper Karl was very friendly. We have decided we will learn to sail this year.

My husband and I took a Cruise & Learn sailing lesson to the Gulf Islands with 2 other students last week at the VSC. We had an excellent instructor "Carl" who not only taught us how to sail but introduced us to Montegu Harbor, Poets Cove, Birds Eye Cove , Pirates Cove and Ganges, Saltspring Island. There were very few other boats cruising so moorings and dock space was always available. The sailing was wonderful, meals had quality ingredients ( we all took turns cooking), and the boat Clara ALLEGRO, a Beneteau 36, was comfortable , easy to dock and fast. This was our second and notably best charter. We highly recommend.
