Great intro to sailing lesson! For a first timer, it was an excellent experience. Staff were really friendly, teaching was spot on, and we never felt unsafe. A few unexpected problems with the boat at the very beginning delayed our 9am lesson to 10am, but our instructor was really great about talking us through a bunch of sailing concepts while we were waiting for the boat to get fixed. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

I had a wonderful experience at Port Sailing. I tried an organization from City Island but it was too unprofessional and I went searching and found Port. I have sailed these waters for decades and I am so happy that Port is here. The team is smart and professional, Chris the owner is a intelligent team leader, a smart businessman and a real nice fellow. The boats are well maintained and reasonably priced. The fact that they have loads of parking is nice but what clinches the deal is the clean heads. To have a clean bathroom and shower is the proof of the attention to details that divide the amateurs from the professionals. Port is a professional operation, I will be back many times. I plan to bring my friends and family down for some fun. I have been sailing for over 50 years, in many parts of the world. Port Sailing is a world class organization and is well worthy of you coming down and checking it out. I am not family or friend, I just hope they have the ability to continue well into the future so I can continue to sail, enjoy life and the time on the water with my family and friends. Maybe I will see you on the Wednesday evening run around the buoys fair winds and following seas ... johnny .

Instructors were often inconsiderate to children when no adult costumers were around. Once a child injured his foot on part of the boat in an honest accident, but the instructor lacked first aid knowledge which she apparently was supposed to have. The kid had to go in an ambulance. I never met the guy in charge, but I think he's probably a good guy. The instructors I came into contact with were not. Hopefully there are better ones now. Also they let kids pass the boating safety test even if they had no idea what they were doing. They gave everyone 3 chances to get a 65% or above. And they let you keep the right answers and they say what you got wrong. I bet that's illegal and can get someone killed, but that's business. (Or if the owner didn't know, than that's lazy college kid instructors.)

My son just attended the sailing camp and had a great time. It was wonderful see him sailing the Opt sailboats on the Port Sailing School Facebook page. Many thanks to his instructor Debra.

I really love the Port Sailing School, I've been coming to it for years through the summer camp. The instructors are very knowledgeable, and really know how to make you feel comfortable and familiar with the boats. The location is great, for it operates in a sheltered bay (that is near NYC) that provides a calm and safe environment for everyone. One instructor, that really stood out to me, was jack. He REALLY knows how to teach you to sail, like he was a teacher with a degree. Every time I come to The Port Sailing School every summer, I always learn more, which provides me with hours of enjoyment. If you have a love for the water, I strongly recomend thats you check out the Ports Sailing School, which is perhaps the best place to learn to sail on Long Island. -Sebastian :D
