My kids love visiting the Lost Channel! We try to stay there every year for a week. Staff are friendly and Russ always has something fun to tell the kids (like how the dear got stuck in the wall). The brunch is fantastic and the store always has what you forgot to bring. My only comment would be to upgrade the mattresses in the cabins. Like sleeping on a box spring.

A sad story follows: NO LONGER CUSTOMER FOCUSED...a year ago this resort was owned by a long time local who completely understood the needs of it's patrons... Under new ownership now and the new owners seem to have completely missed the point. When you buy a business like Lost Channel you're really buying the regular revisiting yearly clientele. When you then go ahead and change major things about the establishment that attracted the majority of people.. you're just setting yourself up for failure. Canceling Sunday brunch is a brain-dead move from somebody who clearly doesn't understand how businesses work. It seems to be huge tension between the cooking staff and the new owners... and they have gone ahead and fired all of the useful and helpful young service that used to ensure service times weren't horrendous. Turning up with a large group Sunday brunch as we have done all summer long for the past 15 years... We were in immediately snapped at by a new owner... who told us if we wanted a drink we would have to join the lineup and then they weren't "turning on the fryers" til about midday ... so there won't be any food till about an hour after that! Restaurant was full of hungry and miserable looking people staring at menus... in Silence with no drinks... Fail. We left and went to Tornados instead.

New owner is rude. I've been a customer for 17 years. Took my kids up there every summer. We would rent a cabin sometimes, but mostly we Would rent a motor boat and head to an island to camp for a few days. My daughter is craving to take her husband to show him the island and the nifty store that had a humorous baby rattler box. Many, many fond memories. Today I called to see if I could reserve a boat for later this week to take my daughter and her husband and their little one "Levi" to the island. I'm thrilled to see that my daughter wants to continue the camping tradition with my grandson. Very sad that the new owner expected me to drive 4 hours without reserving a boat! He said "2 boats were down and that he won't reserve any of the other boats, and that I would have to come and see if any are available" I was very surprised that he wouldn't reserve a boat for me. I said " so... I'm going to drive 4 hours... and then find out that all the boats are gone???" His tone was rude "didn't you hear what I just said?!?" I was in disbelief! That he would not reserve and that he would expect that I would be OK with driving all that way with no guarantee of a boat and that ... what!?! I'd be OK with his rude "did you not hear what I just said?" Sorry and sad to say, they won't be getting our business...
