Sandbanks is one of the best beaches if not the best beach on Lake Ontario. The entrance to the park is cheap at $11/car. The beach is wide, sandy and very shallow water makes is safe for children to wade out. The park provides picnic tables on the beach but get there early if you want one as the beach fills up fast. The dunes and outlet river are also great places to fish from the shore. Bring your family and BBQ and enjoy the day.

Love this place! It gives me a pretty good impression at the gate as you get a sandbanks information guide and there are stories of family coming here for camping since 1967, now and then. The beach is amazing. Clean and long coast line, sand is fine and soft. Did a camping trip here. There is shower, park shop for souvenir and supplies and a cafe. The only cons is those tiny smelly washrooms. Well, but understandable and it's a campground not a resort. Overall really satisfied and would love to visit again.

PLEASE, BUILD MORE & BETTER WASHROOMS. The beach was perfect, the sand was perfect, the water was warm the day we visited. BUT I decided to give only 3 stars because of the beach salubrity. There are no signs on the beach to direct you to the washrooms. Well, we asked around and finally found them. It was a deception, the washrooms are tiny and smelly and you need to wait for a long time in the line. I'm pretty sure that people avoid using them, doing their number one directly in the lake. During our walk on the beach we found a dead fish of about 50 cm already in decomposition, it was lying on the sand near the water. It was disgusting. In some areas along the beach we saw a lot of algae, so the water wasn't transparent at all. We didn't see any lifeguard on the beach...

One of the best beaches in Ontario! Facilities are great. Check in was slow after a long drive. Bothered me more than it should. Like anywhere, if you are picky about your campsite, be careful what you book. We reserved late and took what we could. Had a site in the cedars, #289. The site was on a slope and uneven. We were able to set up our ridiculous oversized tent on a flat spot. But not the dining tent and most annoying was around the fire pit. Kids couldn’t sit in their chairs without falling over.

Beach is a gem for Ontario. Large clean beach. Most of the beach is shallow and you can walk out pretty far before it starts to pass your waist. Safe for kids because of this, but there aren't any lifeguards so still keep an eye on them. Get there early to get a good spot and to avoid the lineups to get in.
