I contacted Casey O' Loughlin Academy because my 13 year old gifted daughter was interested in learning the art of Irish Dance. Their webpage lists beginner classes from ages 4+. As my daughter has no dance experience, she was interested in taking this class. The dance academy refused to let her join because of her age, despite no maximum age being listed on web page. I would never send my child to a school were teachers discriminate based on age. It is hard to find programs for teenagers, and at an age when they are so vulnerable. To have a school refuse to let her participate in something that will increase her physical fitness, her confidence, and her appreciation for the art of Irish dance, also denies her the opportunity to learn of her culture, and her Irish heritage. Obviously this school is in it for the money, and not for the true satisfaction of teaching those who wish to be taught. If their classes have a maximum age it should be listed on site, and not falsely advertised.

We have been so fortunate and delighted to be a part of the Casey O’Loughlin dance family. Our two girls have not only learned Irish dancing from the best talent Calgary has to offer but they have grown in self confidence, competitive spirit, and humility. This experience has been so much more than a dance academy. Our girls have made lasting friendships with the other students and we have found a community of parents who cheer and care equally for all. Cara and Mark have amazed us with their dedication, and true caring and instilled these values in all of us.

My sister remembered Cara (one of the owners/teachers)from her dancing days and suggested we check out her school when I was considering Irish Dance for my kids. I'm so happy we did! My kids have been dancing with Casey O'Loughlin Academy for 3 years now and we have been very happy with them. The teachers are very kind and encouraging to the kids. They are supportive and present at all the competitions and always have responded very quickly to any of my emails/questions. When we joined the other parents were so friendly and helpful, passing along costume pieces and team wear that had been outgrown along with advice. The best teachers and amazing dance families, you can't ask for much more! I'm so excited to register my youngest daughter this September!

Cara and Mark are more than just teachers of Irish Dance - they develop these young artistic athletes into confident, disciplined, and professional members of our community. The Casey O'Loughlin school encourages high self esteem and promotes hard work, furthered by building a network of close friendships that will last a life time. They look at a student as a whole, right from proper nutrition and fitness to mental preparation for competitions and personal sharing at every level... all in an atmosphere of positivity and kindness. WE are so thankful to Mark and Cara for being such amazing mentors, and playing such a huge part in our daughter's life!

My three girls have been dancing with Casey O'Loughlin for the past year and a half, after transferring from another dance school. Cara and Mark's knowledge, experience, connection and commitment to the world of Irish Dance is amazing. All three of my girls have improved tremendously over the last 18 months - two of them moving into prelim during this time - a huge accomplishment. Cara and Mark have challenged them and helped teach them that the discipline of hard work pays off.
