I am an adult starting dance in my mid-years. I have been at Free Flight for over a year now and am thoroughly impressed by the studio. I have watched girls gain discipline and technique but most impressive is how confident they are. Some have been dancing at Free Flight since 3 years old and I have seen some do their last performances before going off to college as amazing young, confident women. I have seen nothing but encouragement and a really healthy environment especially around body image and self esteem. Sure the teachers can be tough but dance and ballet are tough, its very hard work and requires hard work and dedication to be good and the teachers expect nothing less. I have nothing but good things to say about this amazing studio.

I own Free Flight Dance and have to say the previous review is a totally incorrect view of who we are or what we do. I certainly made mistakes in those early years, and being human, continue to make mistakes but I work very hard to give the best I can to everyone and my staff and I work hard to train both the recreational and the serious students. With one ex-student a qualified Royal Academy of Dance teacher, 4 students accepted into the Royal Winnipeg Summer Audition program, two accepted into the school itself (though they chose not to leave their families), one accepted into the National Ballet's summer program, and many dancing post graduation, I hardly think we could possibly be such a terribly school with "poor technique". I feel very sorry for the person who wrote this review, something obviously happened to her, but not at my hands nor the hands of my teachers. When there is bullying or manipulative behavior we have always addressed it directly with the students and parent and I cannot be held to blame for the social behavior of all of societies girls. If you want to know who we are, please feel free to email me at the studio and I am always happy to meet to talk about what we do and how we do it.

Free Flight School of Dance is an awful school. I trained there for a long time. The students have very poor technique and are not pushed to reach their potential. Time is wasted in class by talking which is encouraged by the teachers. Gossip is rampant and the teachers have no qualms in talking with unjust malice about students, other teachers, other dance studios, and alumni. Students are extremely cliquey and bullying is common and not dealt with properly. There is a lack of control within the class and unhealthy relationships between the students and teachers. There is a lack of professionalism. Students are threatened with stick beatings and being murdered, humiliated in classes by having their names written on a stick if they are bad. The teachers completely lack any knowledge of the dance world outside their little bubble. If you want decent recreational or pre-professional dance training this is not a good choice. It is a waste of time and a waste of money. I would not recommend this school to anyone. It is a horrible place.
