My husband and I were looking for dance instructors for our upcoming wedding ceremony, and came upon Fred Astaire due to their high reviews. We loved our instructor Denise, you can tell she is a professional and made the lessons fun. However, we were a little disappointed as we felt we had to make long term commitments to our dance lessons when at the moment we were only looking to learn for our first dance in the wedding. Denise was able to teach us the basics of most latin dances, and we learnt few dance steps for the beginning and the end part of our song. For the middle part of our song, we had to figure out on our own because while we were told at the beginning that 5 classes would give us a basic overview of the steps for the entire song, during the end we were told 5 classes were not enough. There was pressure to sell more classes, which is normal given the nature of the job, however, we would have at least expected to get the full routine for the song we've chosen. There was a lot of repitition in the first few classes, which could otherwise be used to learn new steps, eventually leading to covering the whole song. I would not recommend Fred Astaire to couples looking for choreographed wedding dance, unless you are willing to take minimum 10 classes or will continue with them in the long term. They do not offer hourly classes and are package-based lessons with minimum 5 classes. However, if you are looking to dance as a hobby or have a longer commitment to develop your skills, they are definitely the place to go to. Everyone is friendly, the place is clean and you cannot deny their passion in teaching dance.

At first, I was not too sure what to expect. I had only signed up because I won lessons. However, after a few steps, I felt in love with tango, swing and the other styles I have learnt (plus, I have to admit I had no idea that fox trot still existed :p). I have now a hobby that I love and I decided I wanted to develop my skills. Another big plus of the studio is that EVERYONE there is super friendly. After a month I have been there, all the instructors knew my name and greeted me once I come in. I definitely recommend this place!

Very good experience and hope to know a few more new things in upcoming lessons till I complete my social programs. Everyone in the Studio is friendly and my instructor is just amazing! Highly recommended studio!

An excellent dance studio, my wife and I joined over a year ago and have found the instructors to be friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, especially with learning Latin and ballroom dances. I would recommend Fred Astaire to anyone who is a beginner or experienced dancer, you can sign-up with a partner, or as a single. You are guaranteed to have fun, as they offer a mix of private lessons, group lessons and dance party's. Going on vacation, or going to weddings is definitely more fun, now that we know our way around the dance floor.

Having a wonderful time at the Ottawa Fred Astaire Dance Studio! I have been taking lessons for about two months now and don't know what I would do without them. It always seems my next lesson doesn't come soon enough! The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable, so If you are thinking of taking dance lessons in Ottawa, you should definitely try out the Fred Astaire Dance Studio.
