You need to be very careful before you purchasing the ticket. The ticket is quite expensive. Costing from $30 - $200. However, there is no guarantee that you will get what you paid. Whether the balloon can be released depending on many factors, such as rain or not, wind speed and direction etc. We went there last year and spent over $300 including gas, hotel and admission tickets. In last minutes, they told us that the balloon won't up due to weather condition. They also refused to refund the tickets. They just give us rain check to purchase for next year. In this year, we tried to use the rain checks. However, the web application asked us to provide credit card information. We called them. One of their employee told us to give the credit card information in the buy ticket website and ensure us that there will be no charge. We did as they told us. Finally, we are charged again. We called them back and asked why we are charged. They told us that our rain checks are expired. But, the employee who asked us to provide the credit card information didn't told us that. Their buy ticket web application did pass the validate checking. We know that it will be difficult to get them to validate our rain checks. We simply give up the rain checks and asked them just to refund this year's purchase mislead by them. But, they refuse to refund ! It sounds like a scam ! I post this here to avoid others caught by this scam again. Please do yourself a favor, DON'T buy tickets from them!

I love the hot air balloons ! I have been going to the International de Montgofieres since 1995 - it is the oldest balloon festival in North America. Balloon crews come from all over North America to participate. The thing to remember is that if the weather is not right - for safety - the balloons will not go off. When they do - - it is just magical with regular colored balloons filling the sky at dusk - - - - and magical creature shapes - I have seen a Giant Purple People eater and other unique things fly off with the others. The way that I deal with the wait and the uncertainty as to whether they will fly or not - is to take a big picnic basket, lots of water and a cooler with cold tea and drinks - an umbrella for the sun and rain - and just wait it out. I have never been up in one of the balloons - but I understand that many people have reservations and then the balloons do not go off - - and there is trouble getting refunds - - It is good to know that although not far over the Vermont/New York border into Quebec - the majority of people on the ground speak French - Quebec French - - and may have difficulty understanding you - -and you them - - - BUT over all - - I love the experience.

Great festival that we come to every year from the states. Decisions for balloon flights are made last minute but that makes sense if you know anything about balloons. If they don't fly and you leave before the concert you can still get back in another day for free. Also great that you can bring in your own drinks and food. Tickets are much cheaper in packages but even for the day there is lots to do on the field for free.
