I have been debating on posting this review for a while now, as I am still a member of the gym and was afraid of the response from the staff. But I believe in an honest review.
To start out with the positives, the coaches who coach the classes are amazing. They are friendly and encouraging and really strive to make you your best self. They build a friendly relationship with you, know your name ask about your family, weekends and life in general. The classes are all different so you don’t get used to the same routine and keep the level of difficulty up. The members are also great and welcoming and you really feel part of the group. The hours are also decent with lots of time to get a workout in, except for Friday and Saturday afternoons.
Now the unfortunate part. The business side of the company is not run great. I did the 6 week challenge and I was extremely proud of the result I got. The work outs and the food plan do make a great difference but I was told the food plan was customized to each person. They were not. You are given recipes and a pie chart of what percent you can eat. So you need to make all the adjustments to the recipes according to your pie chart and what portions and percent you can eat. During my half way mark and my final weigh in the office admin just focused on what “I did wrong†and how I “did not meet the goals†I left discouraged and upset. I was not looking for someone to hold my hand but positive encouragement on what I did right and how I could try and change things to get better results were not given. At my final weigh in the office admin actually spoke the words “you failedâ€. What “motivator†would ever say that to you!! I did not fail my own goals I was really proud of my result. Just because I didn’t line up to their paper it is not failure. In the industry they are in they should be encouraging people not hammering down their self esteem. This meeting should have went so different. I felt I was just a “saleâ€. Nothing I was saying was being listened too. I voiced my concerns in the weigh in meetings and I was ignored like I never spoke and continued to be “sold about memberships and the great new supplementsâ€.
My husband and good friend enrolled in the 21 day detox. They emailed the admin 4 times because they didn’t get the program and was told over and over again it was sent when in fact it was not. The program started and they still had not received their package on what to do. The first week of the challenge they had daily goals and were encouraged to partake in the daily challenges and be active in the fb group. After the first week utter silence from the gym. The challengers didn’t even know the correct date they were finished. They counted their 21 days and asked to book weigh ins and were told they were not done yet. After my husband and friend scheduled their weigh in, they arrived at the gym and the scan equipment was broken so they could not even see their proper results. They were not told at the time of their booking that the scan machine was broken so it was a waste of taking the time off work to be there.
I referred a girlfriend for the 6 week challenge with the warning that the admin side was not great but the couches and classes were really awesome and try to just take it for face value. She went to her initial consultation with the admin and left frustrated and did not sign up. She went in with such high hopes for the gym and program and she said that she just felt “talked at†she felt she was not even in the room. None of her questions were answered and she just sat through a sales pitch and was told “this is how it is take it or leave itâ€
If you are looking for a great workout and a friendly welcoming atmosphere the coaches and members of the classes will give this too you but as far as everything else, you may not get what you hope. This is again my experience with the gym and at least 5 of my friends.
